Daria Marchenko hails from Kyiv, Ukraine, where she attended and graduated from the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. Her artworks have been exhibited in Ukraine, Western Europe and the Middle East. A successful commercial artist, Ms. Marchenko is most known for her involvement as an advocate for public art in Ukraine, and the creation of both interior and exterior wall murals in over thirty countries.

A portrait of Russian President Vladimir Putin, made out of 5,000 cartridges brought from the frontline in eastern Ukraine, named "The Face of War" is seen in the studio of Ukrainian artist Daría/Dariya/Dasha Marchenko.

The artist collected all 5000 of these Kalashnikov bullets over the space of 4 months and with the help of volunteers, and painted some parts of the huge piece with acrylic and oil paints.

Fearless Girl is a bronze sculpture by Kristen Visbal. The statue was installed on March 7, 2017, in anticipation of International Women's Day the following day. The plaque affixed to it reads: "Know the power of women in leadership. SHE makes a difference."

The bronzed statue and symbol of female empowerment — first installed in March 2017 across from Wall Street's "Charging Bull" — was moved in 2018 to a new spot in front of the New York Stock Exchange in Lower Manhattan. by @shdbouli

I used to row this Mass 24 racing shell on San Francisco Bay. I just found this poem that explains why I always preferred rough water to flat. 🥰

IF I WANTED A BOAT

I would want a boat, if I wanted a
boat, that bounded hard on the waves,
that didn't know starboard from port
and wouldn't learn, that welcomed
dolphins and headed straight for the
whales, that, when rocks were close,
would slide in for a touch or two,
that wouldn't keep land in sight and
went fast, that leaped into the spray.
What kind of life is it always to plan
and do, to promise and finish, to wish
for the near and the safe? Yes, by the
heavens, if I wanted a boat I would want
a boat I couldn't steer.
