September really does not let up on me.

Now even though September is a heavy month for me, a friend extended an invite to a networking event, and one morning I woke up to a message about a great opportunity that gave me another reason to come out of my shell. And honestly, that made me so happy. Like, okay… some good news in September for once.

Today is my dad’s birthday, so this month is always going to carry a lot for me.

That’s the part about September, for me, it can hold grief, memories, birthdays, and still somehow make room for little moments that remind me life is still moving.

So I’m taking the good with the hard, staying grateful for the people I still have, and still carrying my dad and granddaddy with me through every new room, opportunity, and chapter.

I was going through our file bin and came across all the invoices I saved from when I used to order my products back in 2021. I went to the album on my phone where I have everything I ever made saved and just scrolled through it all. It made me feel a way.

If you would’ve told me back then that I wasn’t going to be a “soaper,” I probably wouldn’t have believed you. I got up every day researching oils, EOs and herbs. I made soaps, and when I got tired of them, I’d cut them into pieces and make something else.

I didn’t have a website, and I knew I probably wasn’t going to sell any of it, but it made me happy. It was fun, and I knew it could possibly give me the financial freedom I was looking for if I stayed focused, kept learning and perfected my craft.

Finding those invoices made me ask myself: if I loved it that much and saw so much potential in it, why didn’t it work out?

The truth is, I had the excitement and creativity, but I lacked patience, discipline and consistency. I didn’t pray on it or about it as much. I wasn’t reading my Bible. I didn’t run the idea past God, and I wasn’t giving Him any time.

Maybe coming across those invoices wasn’t random. Maybe I needed to see them as a reminder to slow down and ask myself what I could do differently this time.

This thing I’m working on now requires God, lots of prayer, obedience, patience and consistency. I don’t want to rush it just because I’m eager to reach the outcome. I want to take my time, keep learning, perfect my craft and allow God to lead me instead of asking Him to bless something I never consulted Him about.

I don’t look back at the girl I was in 2021 and think she failed. I think she was learning. She had the vision, but the woman I am now understands the importance of building the right foundation so that what I create doesn’t just start, it lasts.

This time, I’m not just chasing financial freedom. I’m becoming the woman who will be prepared to handle it when it comes.

I’ve probably watched this video over 100 times smiling, laughing and just taking in what a time this was. Everybody was a little younger. My granddad was still here, in the early stages of dementia, sitting on the porch where he loved to be. My grandma was in her chair watching me open my gifts, making sure I was satisfied and you could see how genuinely appreciative I was of every single one. Quan kept interrupting my floor, so of course she had to tell him to sit his ass down. 😂

Everything was just so different. I honestly can’t even remember what year this was, but this video reminded me of how rich I already was. Me and my family have been through some times and hopefully by now they done learned their lesson about crossing me lmao. But when I look back at moments like this, I’m reminded that a lot of people didn’t get to grow up surrounded by what I had.

Watching this also made me realize that God created me with a piece of each of them my grandmother, my mom and my two aunties. The personalities, the laughter, the love and all that carrying on y’all hear in the background that’s where I came from.

I came from love, laughter, morals, responsibility, consideration and so much more. A lot of people lack a few, if not all, of those things today and this video reminded me of just how blessed I am to have been raised in them.

To know me is to love me because I am my family not the “better” version, but the healing and generational curse breaking version. ❤️✨
