I never thought I’d be writing a letter to my representatives about infant formula.But here I am. A 2x breast cancer survivor, a new mom through surrogacy, and someone who has felt the very specific grief of not being able to feed my son from my own body.Every new mother in this country is entitled to a free breast pump through insurance. Every one. But there is zero financial support for formula or donor milk, even for mothers who are medically unable to breastfeed.For families navigating cancer, chronic illness, necessary medications, or other medical barriers, the system offers nothing.That gap needs to close.I’m partnering with @bobbie and @the_breasties to build support for Connie’s Bill, the Constance C. McDaniel Medically Necessary Infant Formula + Donor Milk Act. A proposed 3-year pilot through HHS that would provide financial assistance for medically necessary formula or donor milk for families like mine.For every parent who has sat with this particular grief: you are not alone, and you deserve support. Jude Morrison 🤍Entered the world 12.21.25. Our winter solstice baby finally bringing the light after a long, dark road. He has truly taken a sad song and made it better. Since he arrived, I’ve felt physical pain ease in a way I didn’t expect.I can’t wait for the day he learns his story. How his parents never gave up, and how deeply wanted he is by so many. I hope he carries the same resilience in his own heart for his own dreams that his parents do for him. @jess_steirer, thank you for giving us and our family the greatest gift.
