Mockingbird incorporates lyrical poetry and an experimental soundscape to reveal how patriarchy isolates women through a daughter’s perspective. As she yearns to break free from inherited loneliness, the film examines the intricate bond between mother and child, a dance of love and solitude.

Thank you @iffshimla for including Mockingbird in your curation. And thank you to @doorasth_collective , this film was made under the excellent guidance and mentoring from the brilliant artists at Doorasth!

Unveiling the official poster for Chadariya made by the super talented @slippingandfalling
It was a beautiful experience being able to create with another female artist who really understood the film as well as the emotions and brought forth this magic!

Huge news in the new year! I won the 'Emerging artist of the year 2023' at @mimesisdocfest
Still can't wrap my head around it!
Thank you to the University of Boulder, Colorado.

After years of hard work and guidance by excellent mentors, I am glad the conversation around unsafe abortions in India has also been able to cross oceans and resonate with audiences through my film. I used to always be in different conundrums and not even understand the unending thoughts that plagued me, and most women around me. But I found all the support I could during the making of this film, I believe. I can now speak without skipping a beat, the stories of the body and heart, of choices made and losses incurred.

Making Chadariya was the most enriching experience I've ever had, and the experimental form has allowed me to learn and love all aspects of filmmaking.

I'm grateful for the important work @cuboulder @cubouldercmci and their centre for documentary and ethnographic media does, their diverse programmes and careful curations are the reasons that a topic like unsafe abortion is able to beat in the hearts of the audience in the States, where the laws on abortion are so difficult themselves.
