Feeding Educators: sofreh/sofra

We are excited to invite you to sofreh/sofra, our first public program from the series Feeding Educators (FEEDED) led by Safaa Alnabelseya (@svfvvvv) and Dana Prieto (@dana___prieto). This iteration of FEEDED invites participants to a collective sofreh/sofra hosted by Golboo Amani (@golboa) and Alize Zorlutuna (@alizezorlutuna).

Both sacred altar, and everyday spread โ€” wrapped in a cloth, carried and laid out, sofreh/sofra is a gathering of ingredients, nourishing playful curiosity, embodied presence and generosity. Unfolding in movements, a meal becomes a space for world building, learning and practicing ways of being together, where food is a teacher/gateway/informer, and collective care, and futures are interwoven.

Please join us

Poetry Nighy 012- Rumi & Shams, Another Round

If all doors closed up on all sides of this six face room,
that moon face from no place finds a way to put head through my way (Rumi)

In every Poetry Night we reference Rumi and therefore definitely Shams appears somewhere around it. In all sorts of topics this interaction applied. It worths now to sit and take a closer look at the story; at this calling of fire into a seed. We have collected the story to take another round on the footprints of Shams and Rumi, what we know and what we assume to read the two characters. In Poetry Night 011 we had a glimpse of moment to shed light on this story from a queer point of view. Many layers to be unfolded with the inputs from all of you. The session will begin with a 40 minute review of the story by Sam Sabzevari and then opens up to all for adding and discussing. All poetry is welcome to join and will complete this session to become an experiment in all subjects.

Feeding Educators (FEEDED) is a series of gatherings centring food, conversation, and radical education. Each event will feature a guest artist-educator who will share their knowledge, experiences, and questions entangling their art and pedagogical work. A menu will be crafted in response to our guestsโ€™ presentations and learning journeys. Together, we will share a meal thinking of ways in which education can remain a site of transformative work.ย

FEEDED seeks to build on past and present histories of radical pedagogical practice in the city, nourishing both educators and participants through delicious food, collective learning, and meaningful dialogue.

Presented by SHEEEP School (@sheeep.school) , with funding and logistical support from Toronto Arts Council (@torontoartscouncil) and Evergreen Brick Works (@evergreen_brick_works), FEEDED is co-led and hosted by artists Dana Prieto (@dana___prieto) and Safaa Alnabelseya (@svfvvvv) with programming support from Alize Zorlutuna (@alizezorlutuna).

Our guests for this season include Lisa Myers (@liiiisamy), Toleen Touq (@toleeners), Luis Jacob (@towardsatheory), and Alize Zorlutuna (@alizezorlutuna).

Our events will take place at Evergreen Brick Works throughout the summer and fall of 2026.

Stay tuned for upcoming event details and message us with any questions at school@sheeep.ca by @sheeep.school

For the forever child

For how children make, immediately to un-make, and then again. For how they play, with no counting; learning through playing. For how they face the reality, in-time, with the least knot-work to the long gone past, with the least projection to the unknown future; engaged in the stretching now.

The story of the inner child taking the wheel has long been an icon of true freedom, seen a lot to be represented with the metaphor of flying. Exciting enough, Antoine De Saint Exupery was really a pilot; and The Little Prince to be his long lasting legacy of how the child knows better!

In this poetry night, we take this book/idea as inspiration, we bring together thoughts and pieces under the theme of the forever child.

Join us for the third session of โ€œterrain and textโ€ facilitated by @farida.archives next week Tuesday Oct 21st at 6-8:30pm at @baaa______baaa
-
a series of reading group discussions hosted by Farida Rady where we engage with various lines of geographic thought. Collectively, we traverse a range of texts bound together by a critical spatial approach. Topics include legal geographies, power and state formation, land politics and migration, urban rights and resistance, and creative praxis. Pre-reading is highly encouraged, and discussions will be casual and informal.
-
The third session of terrain and text focuses on abolition geography and considers โ€œfreedom as a place,โ€ as Ruth Wilson Gilmore teaches us. We will take a closer look at the spatial and geographic applications of an abolitionist framework. What does abolition look like in practice, on the ground? Why are declarations of โ€œinnocenceโ€ counter-intuitive to the project of abolition? What do we mean when we say abolition is presence, not absence? Rather than focusing exclusively on prison abolition, we will follow Gilmoreโ€™s lead and discuss how people make freedom and imagine home against the gears of racial capitalism and imperialism on multiple scales and fronts. The text will be emailed to registrants ahead of the session, and a few printed copies will be available.
-
When: Tuesday, Oct 21st. Doors open at 6:00PM, discussion begins at 6:30PM sharp, and ends by 8:30PM.

Much like the past couple of sessions, what we ask is simple: bring a piece of text with youโ€”one, or many, in any language, in any form. If youโ€™re not comfortable sharing, thatโ€™s okay too. Youโ€™re welcome to come, listen, and join the conversation however you like.

This session is about welcoming all kinds of thoughts. A poem. A fragment. A line youโ€™ve been holding onto. Bring what you feel drawn to shareโ€”or simply point us to it, and weโ€™ll look it up together.
