First day of school…on August 10th. Still not sure how that is legal when it’s very much summer!! 😂 Apparently this is what happens when the PGA comes to Medinah and you get a week off for it!

Alexa is somehow a junior already and Cole is a freshman. 🥹 Excited to see where she starts looking at colleges…and slightly less excited that Cole has basketball AND Driver’s Ed this year. 😅

This reel may actually be a bigger milestone than the graduation itself…

Cole usually has a strict “no pictures on social media” policy, so the fact that he agreed to this might be the real accomplishment.

Yesterday he graduated from Peacock Junior High, becoming the third generation of our family to do so. My mom, my sister, me, Alexa, his cousin Kimber, and now him all share this little piece of family history.

What makes me most proud isn’t the graduation. It’s the person he’s becoming.

Over the last few years I’ve watched him work hard, push through challenges, and stay committed to being the best version of himself …whether that’s on the basketball court, in school, or wherever he sets his mind.

He’s a lot like me in some ways. We’re both a little guarded with our feelings and tend to keep things close to the vest. But underneath that, he’s one of the kindest, most loyal, and most caring people I know 💙

Congratulations, Cole. I couldn’t be more proud of you.

10 years ago today, I was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Austin after a vertebral artery dissection stroke.

What people didn’t see afterward was how hard the recovery actually was.

I remember showering sitting on the floor because I physically didn’t have the strength to stand long enough.

It took months to regain my strength physically.
Mentally and emotionally… probably even longer.

I remember someone asking me afterward,
“Don’t you just want to stop working and stay home?”

And I remember thinking… absolutely not.

I wanted my kids to see me keep going.
I wanted purpose.
I wanted a full life.

I didn’t want the stroke to define my identity or quietly shrink my world.

So no… I wasn’t about to quit life.

Ironically, this Instagram account was started after the stroke. Most people here only know the version of me that came afterward.

The trips.
The work.
The skydiving.
The fashion posts.
The rebuilding.

But there was a season before all of that where simply standing in the shower felt hard.

10 years later, I’m incredibly grateful I kept going.

And ironically, this anniversary also falls during American Stroke Month …a reminder that strokes can happen even to people who look healthy, strong, and “too young” for something like this.

I’m deeply grateful to my family who flew to Austin to be by my side, and especially to Dr. Matt McCoyd, whose guidance, support, and friendship over the years have meant more than I can properly put into words.

As my good friend Iona Holloway says,
“Beige is a good color for a wall, not your life.” ❤️
