‘New People’ story for @vanguardmagok n°52 vol.2 by Kenneth Anderson

NEW PEOPLE is set in a disturbingly close future where a new population has emerged. They do not feed on food or real emotions, but on the illusion of being better. Their only source of energy is the perception of power, status, and beauty.
They are flawless, perfect bodies sustained by lives in ruins. The more they crumble internally, the more perfect their image becomes. They do not survive by being, they survive by appearing.
They are the end result of a world where existing no longer means anything if you cannot perform.
