Nothing makes me feel more angry than the use of AI in the creative industry!

I have so many thoughts and opinions on this topic, and it all stems from how much passion I have for the arts: art is an essential part of being human, it's in everything we do, from documenting our history, to planning our future.

Through a multitude of mediums, humans have been given the ability to process and display our complex emotions in a plethora of ways; painting, film, music, dance, and so much more, the human soul yearns to create!

So when I see a bunch of chuds, sitting behind a screen and typing prompts into ch@t gPeetee so they can see a strawberry and orange cheat on each other with one of the Paul brothers, I start feeling twitchy.

I could talk about this forever, there will be a substack coming your way, but just know: if you create OR consume any AI content, I think you are one of the most intellectually limited organisms in the universe, amongst other things.

Doodlebop : oy hoy minoy 😢

Finally got my hands on gouache again and I am so freaking happy. The only issue is I have no space to really do art, but you know what we make do!

Oh my god the amount of idiots I have had to argue with this past week on reading being political is concerning.

Reminder that even the existence of books is rooted in politics: being able to own a book is a privilege, having the access to education that allows you to be able to read is a privilege.

Use that privilege you carelessly flaunt to educate yourself, and stand up for those who would do anything for the opportunity to simply read!

If you're looking to start somewhere, the books on the next slide are some that I really enjoyed, I recommend reading more than once ✍🏽

Why the freak was I not told that @aardvarkbookclubuk had such a good variety of books?

I wasn't expecting to like their picks for October, but the two I was very kindly gifted are so intriguing (my sister has already bagsied reading them after me)

I had a sneaky look at the rest of the roster and it's safe to say: the tbr has grown beefier 😛 Safe to say I am looking forward to November for a whole another reason now 👀

BOO!!!

I've been fiddling around with digital art and, although I'm having fun, I'm still very much aware I've got a long way to go.

I was really happy with the initial sketch of these guys, but I feel like it's missing something, so I'll deffo be coming back to them.

I'm gonna be trying to do some smaller illustrations inspired by some of my favourite artists from when I was a kid, I've been deep into my Curious George collection as well as some other freaking insanely talented people.

Was this play about us 👀?

I went to go see @kuangrf talk about her new book 'Taipei Story' hosted by @waterstonesnewc , and I left a changed woman, not even kidding.

I'll be so honest, I've read 2 books by Kuang, and I thought they were okay, but nothing life changing: but for some reason I find myself always buying her books and letting them sit on my shelves, with the throwaway thought that I'd get to them later; but after seeing her talk, I am so freaking excited to finally feel the want to consume her works. I've come to realise that the big problem I had was that I felt disconnected from her writing, so when I saw the opportunity to listen to the writer herself, I decided to finally take that opportunity by the metaphorical balls and see what the hype is about, and I can confirm, this woman is The Shit.

Taipei Story was the main subject of the talk, obviously: I don't want to butcher the plot too much, but from the way Kuang walked us through her process and journey, it's clear that the book was exploring heavy subjects like grief, identity, the generational trauma of war, and difficulties of language learning as a child of immigrants, somehow squeezing a tasteful amount of comedy into it. That's the impression that I left with at least.

These topics are close to home for me, and the way Kuang articulated her thoughts was so refreshing and satisfying to listen to, but one thing that really made me respect her so much more, was how honest she was about her writing journey: Kuang mentioned that when she was first starting out she was very young, and it felt like she had to show off her knowledge on the page as a way to prove that she belonged in the space she was in, but as she grew older, the realisation that there is no need to know everything about everything, that it's Impossible to do so, even on subjects you are passionate about.

It's just nice to know that we are giving the right people our time, energy and money. And listening to an intelligent person talk on stage should not be confined to a time limit, I could listen to her speak for hours.

The only thing that could've made this better, was if Mamdani was there, but I'm working on it!

Empathy is not rare or difficult to acquire, yet somehow, there are people out there that don't have a LICK of it.

I hear a lot of people use the phrase, 'protect my peace' as a way to live life selfishly, as if their world is constantly on the precipice of falling into disarray; but the minute you share a snippet of what life is like for those who are trapped in a violent regime supported by the west, the only thing you would see is the back of their head.

Your support and sympathy is WASTED on millionaires; they don't need your thoughts and prayers, they need your money: your blind reverence allows them to pull on strings that keeps you at their feet and puts more money in their pockets.

War and g*cide is not a trend that will pass, it's not a flag on your bio or a pin on your shirt, and it's certainly not something that should be censored and ignored: these ongoing events are a reality for millions and millions of humans, and trust me, a world famous performer who is living a life of comfort and privilege will not lose much by using their influence to raise awareness about w@r crim3s (bare minimum btw).

Don't be lame, practice empathy.

MOOOOVIEEEEEES!!! (Iykyk)

I am so stinking excited to get stuck into all these movies: the last slide are all my rewatches, but I feel just as, if not more, pumped to watch them.

I'm also watching a bunch of stuff in the cinemas soo, but I wanted to give them their own moment (I will not be shutting up about Ressie Evil)

Go out and support your local cinema 🗣️

The September stack has debuted and I am so excited to pick my bias 😛!!!

Honestly, I am so excited to read all of these, I tried picking out a mixture of genres, as well as keeping the general vibe a bit spooky: my cousin and sister have informed me that the fact I consider September the start of spooky season is insane, but I know for a FACT I am not alone.

Being a mood reader in the, arguably, moodiest time of the year feels like a homecoming, and as someone who has never had one of those I can only imagine how stinking fun those things were 🪩.

Book stack 📚:
Picture of Dorian Grey
The Violence Bears It Away
A Short Stay In Hell
The Hollow Places
The Maid And The Crocodile
