Dans le 𝐷𝑜𝑢𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑜 de Brahms, Sheila Jaffé, notre violon solo, et Blair Lofgren, notre violoncelle solo, ont offert un dialogue d’une complicité hypnotisante! 😳
Chaque regard, chaque note, chaque échange racontait l’histoire de cette œuvre, de la tension à la réconciliation. 🎻🎶

L’Orchestre a déployé toute sa puissance également dans le 𝐶𝑜𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑟𝑡𝑜 𝑝𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑜𝑟𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑒 de Lutosławski et le 𝐵𝑜𝑙𝑒́𝑟𝑜 de Ravel.

Un beau prélude au Festival Brahms de cet automne, et à une saison où plusieurs musiciennes et musiciens de l’Orchestre passeront à leur tour de leur chaise habituelle à l’avant-scène comme solistes. ✨ by @sheilajaffe

Fun fact: No one knows for certain why a “green room” is called a green room. 🌿
One theory is that green was considered a restful colour for performers’ eyes after spending time under bright stage lights. Other theories trace the name to early theatre traditions, costumes, and even specific rooms used by actors centuries ago.
Whatever the real origin, we have upgraded our Green Room at BIGLAKE this year!
And over the course of the festival, it became much more than a place to wait before going onstage. It was where artists warmed up, rehearsed, rested, caught up with old friends, made new ones, , and spent those little in-between moments that audiences don’t usually get to see.
Here’s a little look back at life inside the BIGLAKE Green Room during CLASSICS 2026.

Slide 1) Kerson Leong and Philip Chiu are the first superstar musicians to use the new green room and fill it with their charm!

Slide 2) The moment of silence before Phil steps on the stage and has the audience in the palm of his hands.

Slide 3) The Philharmonisches Streichquartett Berlin making some fun and jokes before their Canadian Debut.

Slide 4) Ensemble Made in Canada with Guest Cellist, Cameron Crozman, are chilling in the green room.

Slide 6-7) Happiness and warmth fill the green room! Ilya Poletaev and Ruxandra Oancea will share the candlelight stage, playing Beethoven on the pianoforte and the fazioli

Four powerful string players left the audience buzzing about the thrill of seeing an all-women ensemble perform.

“Girl power!” echoed outside the Historic Leith Church.

In this clip, you’ll hear the opening of the first movement often affectionately called the “Clara” motif. A tender tribute to Robert Schumann’s wife, who was one of the greatest pianists of her time.

Like many women in music today, Clara Schumann faced many challenges: her father’s opposition to her career, her husband’s illness and death, the loss of four children, the sexism of her time, and her own imposter syndrome.

Despite her famous remark “A woman must not desire to compose,” Clara Schumann continued writing music anyway. She faced adversity with grit, generosity, and grace.

Much like the incredible musicians who brought down the house in this performance!
