Dear Daddy,

I can’t believe it’s already been 31 days.

It’s been so hard for me to even find the words to post this but I want the world to know how much you mean to me.

On July 31st, while at work, I received one of the worst calls of my life. I was supposed to work a double shift, but instead I got on the next flight to Baltimore. When I arrived at my sister’s house, the news only got harder to bear. Just that Monday, we had FaceTimed for an hour and 45 minutes and by Thursday, you were gone. That morning at 6:17 a.m. (my time), you texted me, “love you 😘.” I replied, “love you too,” but I don’t know if you ever got the chance to see it. That thought weighs heavy on me every single day.

Daddy, you were and still are my hero. I never imagined I’d have to write this so soon. You still had so much more life ahead of you. You were my protector, my Superman, my example of how to move through this world—with hard work, hustle, wisdom, and the instinct to provide.

My heart is still so heavy, and some days I still can’t believe you’re gone. It took me time to even accept that you’re no longer here. I pray every day for your peace and comfort in heaven, because I know you truly deserve it.

Daddy, I love you endlessly, and I miss you more and more with each passing day. You always told me I made you proud, and I promise I will continue to make you proud.

Happy Father’s Day, Daddy.

This is the first Father’s Day without you and you been heavy on my mind all day. I’m doing ok through it right now but just know I miss you immensely. It’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of you.

Not having you here leaves a space in my heart that can never be filled, but I am grateful for every lesson, every conversation, every laugh, and every memory we shared.

I wish I could hear your voice one more time and tell you how much you mean to me. Your love, strength, and guidance continue to live on through me every day. Though you are no longer here physically, you remain with me in my thoughts, my heart, and everything I do.
