I actually get this question alot, and I really didn't understand it until I got into the business.

🏡 REALTOR® vs. Real Estate Agent — What’s the Difference?

You may hear the terms REALTOR® and real estate agent used interchangeably, but they aren’t exactly the same thing!

👉 Real Estate Agent:
A licensed professional who can represent buyers and/or sellers in real estate transactions.

👉 REALTOR®:
A real estate professional who is also a member of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and agrees to follow its Code of Ethics.

So, while every REALTOR® is a real estate agent, not every real estate agent is a REALTOR®.

💡 Bottom line: When choosing someone to help you buy or sell, don’t just look at the title. Look at their experience, communication, knowledge of the local market, negotiation skills, and how they will advocate for YOU.
