☀️Sicily Summer - New YouTube video out now!☀️

Hit the link in my bio to go to my website, and click the YouTube icon to check out the video!

This summer I was chosen to be a part of @trinacriatheatr as one of their annual festival artists. I created a hand-drawn animation to go along with interviews of local residents of Pezzolo, a small town tucked in the mountains of Sicily. @spencer_shoup created the beautiful soundtrack for my animation.

I had an amazing time at this residency. It was quite the adventure! From getting to create art in Messina, to watching a ballet practice in an ancient ruin in Taormina, to trying to escape Mt. Etna’s latest eruption to get home, this was an experience I’ll never forget.

Thank you so much to @trinacriatheatr and all the people who made this journey possible including my fellow residents and the wonderful citizens of Pezzolo: @gbhasse @_nacke_ @zoemap @sine.sound @_chiarasky6 @thegiadina13 @urawayy @giuseppe_spuria

My book “The Scarf King” is out on Amazon now! Hit the link in my bio to check it out! Or visit shelbynower.com and go to “The Scarf King” tab.

When a gloomy winter settles on the fantasy village of Uzvar, a young king named Vasily Tkachenko must weave scarves from happy memories to bring the magic of winter back to his kingdom.

I’m so so excited to share this with everyone! I’ve been working on this nonstop for months, along with my sculpture (coming soon!), and an art show (next weekend! Info to come). There’s more in store with “The Scarf King”!

🍁 It’s October 1st! 🍁

Time to finally pull out all my autumn sketches, starting with James and Quisha. I’m not going to do Inktober exactly, but I’d really love to draw more this month. Maybe I’ll try and give everything an autumn/Halloween vibe. Perfect reason to start off with werewolf boy and art girl.

I usually draw Halloween costumes for all my characters each year, no matter where they live or what time period they’re from. It’s like how in some manga stories the characters will just have like a random onsen episode despite the characters not living remotely close to a hot spring. This is the American version of that. Everyone gets a Halloween costume.

That being said, I need ideas. What Halloween costumes would you like to see my characters in? Witches? Vampires? Traffic cones? I’m open to suggestions.

⭐️Cosmic Haze⭐️

This purple celestial punk is the companion piece to Smoking Stars, which is part of @rosetussles art collection. She commissioned me to create a figure that would compliment the original I painted years ago at @ace_40.8 .

I had a wonderful time revisiting the first piece and drafting up the new one to match. As you can see @watson_the_paint_bernard was doing his best to help. He is the perfect muse.

“Enchanted Forest”, Shelby Nower, Adams County Jail, 2026, roughly 16 x 13 ft

This new huge mural on the wall of the Adams County Jail is all thanks to Sheriff Dan Mawhorr and the officers of Adams County who commissioned me and several other artists to help brighten up the pods of the the local jail.

Sheriff Mawhorr contacted me and @darlenevassilart back in December to see if we could help add a bit more color to an otherwise very grey place. Initially I submitted a piece with a less vibrant color scheme, but Sheriff Mawhorr encouraged me to push it further and go more saturated. Which I, of course, am all for. The more colorful the better! 🌈

What was crazy about this piece was the sheer size of it. I’ve done large murals before, but this was the highest one I’ve ever made. I had to be on a lift the whole time, as even the lowest point was over 7 feet tall (and the highest was about 19 ft). Standing in the middle of the mural on the lift, the painting stretching out on all sides of me, I felt like I had stepped into my own painted world. 🎨

I wanted to make this work visually interesting and give it a fun twist. There are 24 animals and insects hidden in the foliage and lily pads. I’ve included the list below. Can you find them all?

All Animals in the Mural:

Deer x2
Fox
Skunk
Opossum
Turtle
Frog
Dragonfly x2
Frog
Squirrel
River Otter
Cardinal
Egret
Butterflies x6
Woodpecker
Blackbirds x2
Red wing Blackbird

Close up of my piece for the Decatur 2026 Plein Air Paint Out. 🍃

As you may have seen in my last reel, I painted @longbottomsmokeshop before this year’s @decatursculpturetour . Because their store is named after Longbottom Leaf from Lord of the Rings, I added a few characters from the book. If you look closely, you can see Gandalf, Frodo, Sam, Gollum, Legolas, Gimli, Merry, Pippin, and even Saruman stopping for a quick smoke before taking on Mount Doom.

This piece was made using Sennelier watercolors, ink, and Prismacolor pencils.

A behind the scenes look at the 2026 Decatur Plein Air Paint Out! This annual event before @decatursculpturetour is always so much fun. This year I chose to paint @longbottomsmokeshop , a relatively new business selling smoke supplies and local art.

Since they’re named after Longbottom Leaf from the Lord of the Rings, I decided to add in a few characters from the book including Gandalf, Frodo, Sam, Gollum, Legolas, Gimli, Merry, Pippin, and even Saruman. You can see Mount Doom in the background as the group takes a quick smoke break before continuing on their journey.

This piece was done with Sennelier watercolors, ink, and Prismacolor pencils. Coffee from the always amazing @sorinnasbakery

Used Procreate Dreams to animate this comic just a little. I kept this fairly simple because I wanted to test the flip book features and the layers. There was an early version where I tried to animate movement, and it got a bit dizzying to look at lol. So we’re back to the simple version for now.

What do you guys think of Procreate Dreams? Has anyone else used it?
