Kick up some dust for Shell!

Shelley Dunnington, 31, is a passionate shuffler from Johannesburg, South Africa. A true house music girl at heart, she is naturally dominant in cutting shapes shuffle - but has a soft spot for Melbourne style too.

“Shuffling is not just a physical dance form. It is an expression, a connection to self, a healing, a vulnerability that opens us up as people. It is a skilful practice, an active meditation at times, and an artistic performance. It’s a community, a culture and way of life.. a movement enmeshed in the EDM foundation of peace, love, unity, respect.” - Shelley Dunnington

Respect to that ✊
This girl has shown us that dynamite really does come in small packages - her bubbling joy and energy is captivating.

What a ride it has been.

2 years of dance + following my fire.

Thank you special friends, family, followers for encouraging and supporting me along the way.
You continue to enrich my journey in a way I can’t quite explain 💚

Xxx

Today I was blessed with the presence of a certain Romanian shuffle chicklet in Dubai: @anagumofficial 🥰

Laughing, dancing, sweating it out in the heat together.
We’re both fun-loving, friendly, light-and-airy Libras ♎️ (both celebrating our birthdays this next week 🥳) so we just bounce off of each other like happy little kids.

Our differences lie in how we approach the dance. Ana is a trend-er and I’m more into free-styling. But we still found middle ground whilst creating together 😍

Ever look back on a video from the past and think well that was savage / weird.
Who gave me the permission. Lol

Ok girl 😆 Love that for you.

You know what I’m talking about..

Send me your own such video (DM / tag me) so I can marvel -
Dance or no dance.
Ready to share & repost faves.

This also your sign to post that unhinged / unrefined / unaesthetic / imperfect video gathering dust in your drafts.
Because trends come and go, but your ‘in the moment’ authentic expression is timeless & priceless.

& if you do, I wanna see it ;)

Dancing my way out of the trenches with my Gatorade 💀

7 months postpartum with a toddler and a baba and I think 3 of my brain cells just came back online.
Back-to-back hormonal shifts, mom fog, anxiety, sleepless nights and tiny dictator demands had this girl LOST to herself.
2 under 2 moms - how are we *actually* doing ? 😅

I love my boys with my whole heart and soul. It’s crazy how fast you lose your identity when you’re obsessing over cute little humans 24/7.
Forgetting you are a whole separate person from the little ones you created.

And being in the trenches & survival mode can really rob you of your own spark. If you feel like that, I swear I FEEL YOU.

I’m humbled every day. Learning every day.
Starting to seek balance, and right now that looks like off-setting the 3AM baby rocking with an actual 8-count or two in the living room when the mood strikes. 💃🏼

A remembrance that joy can come from within us too, not just from the cute faces we kiss.
Connecting with the dance joy is my answer I always come back to. What’s yours ?

Just a group of humans passing around joy like it’s confetti 🎊

TBT to ADE.
We came. We shuffled. We elevated vibes.

This is more than dance - it’s sharing & exchanging energy, expression, and a whole lotta passion.

More than footwork - it’s a frequency.

Expressing self, and moving as one 🤞🏽

Postpartum I was disconnected from my relationship with myself and my relationship with dance.
For me, they’re interconnected.
Maybe it was hormones, or just part of a journey to getting my pink back, which seemed far away some months back.

I’m thankful for this dance and for the talented community that keeps inspiring me to come back to it;
To make the time to feel that inner JOY.
What makes us feel so passionate and alive right here right now.

I often feel the energy of your creations coming right through this little screen and pumping into my own veins.!! No lies. 😻
Gives me the fuel to get up and move.

This one was you @arinaluisa 🫶 Love youuu 🥹❤️

Maybe I’m basic / old school.
But my desire to learn cutting shapes style was HEAVILY influenced by these “Beedy-boop beep boop” synthesiser sounds in House Music. 😏

Some of the greatest house tracks of a certain period come to mind..
Show me love - Robin S
Push the feeling on - Nightcrawlers
Bring me love - Andrea Mendez

Num num 😋
