We had a little photo shoot with the talented @mckenzielureephotography last evening! These little humans make me smile. Ever since I can remember, from little on up, I wanted to be a mom. The path we took to get there wasn’t the easiest. But God, in His infinite wisdom and timing knew what was best for us. Now, being a grandma, it’s like getting to watch your kids grow up again. Michael, Grady, Ronnie Bea & Baby Cooper PaPa & BeaBea love you šŸ’™šŸ’™šŸ©·šŸ’™ by @shellybea

Homeā™„ļø Grateful to be home after a long day of travel. Allan and I had so much fun the last 2 weeks. We are thankful for safe travels and for all the time we got to share with Mikkel, Eugene and their families. This trip opened a whole new experience for us and I’m hoping we’ll get to see more of God’s beautiful creation. The skies were quite beautiful tonight here in Berlin. by @shellybea

Our trip is coming to an end. We woke up in Landsberg am Lech, Germany this morning and will go to sleep in Berlin, OH tonight. It was another sad goodbye today. We’ve know Eugene since he was a young boy and when we’re together, we pick up right where we left off. We laughed until we cried and it was so good for our souls. Eugene and Miriam were wonderful hosts and we felt so at home. It was great to get to know their kids and spend time with them as well. We’ve got one more flight from Charlotte and a drive home from Cleveland. by @shellybea

Finished up our last day in Lansberg packing and getting ready to head out tomorrow. We had pizza for dinner and I made them homemade hot fudge for ice cream. The kids loved it. We enjoyed getting to know Miriam’s parents Gerd & Beate. Allan was able to converse with them a bit - much laughing at some of the translations from Pennsylvania Dutch to German. It will be a short night, we will head to the airport at 5am. by @shellybea

Today Miriam & I went in to Landsberg to do a little shopping. Eugene had to work and Allan was home for the kids when they were done with school. We ate lunch by the river which was so beautiful. We had a Döner which is like a gyro but with turkey. It was delicious!! This evening we went out for sushi. It was the best I’ve ever eaten! We watched the @hilandbaseball win the State Semi Final game! Congrats Hawks!! Tomorrow is our last day here in Germany. It’s been an amazing time. by @shellybea

We headed out early on a 2.5 hr road trip to The Eagles Nest in Berchtesgaden. It was a summer home of Hitler. The view is supposed to be quite spectacular, but the weather did not cooperate with us. Unfortunately we only saw pine trees and clouds!! We spontaneously decided to go to Salzburg, Austria. We ate lunch at a restaurant that was over 500 years old! The Wiener Schnitzel was fabulous! We finished up with apple strudel and vanilla cream. Salzburg is a beautiful city with all kinds of shops and cafes. It’s also famous because Mozart was born there and The Sound of Music was filmed there. We had a wonderful day with Eugene & Miriam seeing all the sights. by @shellybea

Our morning started with rolls fresh from the bakery. We hit the road to Schwangau where we toured the Neuschwanstein Castle. Every view was just awesome. The Walt Disney World castle was patterned after this structure. There is another castle across the valley as well. It was so very interesting. I can’t imagine how the construction of a building like this was done on a high mountain. We were not permitted to take pics inside the castle, but you can see pics here https://www.neuschwanstein.de/englisch/idea/index.htm by @shellybea

Today was a beautiful sunny day. We went to Ammersee Lake. It’s always amazing to see the Alps in the background of the scenery. We then stopped at Andechs, it’s a lovely town. There is a monastery up a very steep hill. We walked up and visited the beautiful cathedral. Eugene was a little too tall for the confessional. Half way back down, there was a restaurant with a large beer garden. We tried Schweinshaxe (pork shank) and German potato salad, it was quite delicious. The roses are in full bloom here and they are gorgeous! by @shellybea

This morning we went to church and it was beautiful to hear them singing in German. Even though I couldn’t understand them, I still could worship just listening. They had an app we could use that translated the sermon for us. After church we hopped on the Autobahn. We were going 104 mph😳 We visited the Dachau Concentration Camp. It was really something to walk on the grounds where such horrific things happened. We ended the evening having a bbq with Miriam’s family. Allan and Miriam’s dad had a good time using the iPhone translater to communicate. It was a good day ā™„ļø taken in Landsberg am Lech by @shellybea
