Designing with a view like this is a balancing act and photographing it is a puzzle of its own.

@valehouseco nailed the design with soft wood tones and quiet neutrals allowing the space to feel grounded so the water gets to be the star without the room competing for attention.

My job as a photographer was matching that balance in camera: windows on nearly every wall meant constantly weighing a bright sky against a darker interior. Blow out the windows and you lose the view, expose for the view and the room goes flat.

The solution? Multiple exposures blended together so when combined it reads the way your eye actually sees them.

The best waterfront designs don’t fight the view, they frame it 🌊

There’s a charm to Seattle’s older homes that’s impossible to replicate. The arched entries, textured fireplace and even the ornate floor grate covers.
