First 46er off the list ✔️

📍 Cascade Mountain, Adirondacks
36th tallest peak in the Adirondack park at 4,098 ft.

We left at 4:45am to get to the peak for sunrise and it did not disappoint. We had the entire peak to ourselves for about 45 mins until a local joined us and shared all of his knowledge it was lovely, people there really are the kindest.

Now for some people they would say this isn't challenging, for someone who doesn't live anywhere with a lot of elevation gain I definitely had to prepare myself before we went. It took about 1 hour 40 mins to get to the top. Which is slower for some but keep in mind I'm a type 1 diabetic that really needs to listen to her body and pay attention to my levels which prompted some stops on the way up, I need to fuel with carbs in order to keep it normal.

Last year in the Adirondacks I only did Mt. Jo and Pitchoff which both aren't in the 46er category but gave me a taste of what it was like. I will say I found the climb to Pitch off a little more challenging due to having bigger bolders in the rock scrambles and lifting 3 dogs over them and also being by myself.

I am proud of myself. We did it, we completed it.

To the people who told me I wouldn't make it up or that I would turn around half way because I was out of shape. Thank you so much for being ignorant to body types, yes I may have a autoimmune disease and I'm a little bigger, doesn't mean my body can't move and that I can't do things. This body moves daily, I make sure of it and I listen to it. I grew up an athlete and although I don't fit certain standards - ignorance is what's wrong with the world. Instead of cheering others on we are trying to break them down.

Well not today my friend. We did it. 🫰🏻

Happy Internation Dog Day 🤍

To the 6 tall ears, and 3 waggin' tails that literally make every single one of my days amazing.

I can't wait for so many more adventures, laughs and memories made with you. Thank you for always being consistently excited and happy to see me and making any bad day good.

She may be chaotic but she is turning into such an amazing dog. I have loved building a relationship with her, she may at times have rocks for brains but she really does try her hardest and on the hardest of days she is the best cuddle bug you could ask for.

This whole week dog dad and I were sick and she was so patient with us. Dog Dad then on Saturday tore his Achilles so it looks like he will be at home for a while and at least he will have a friend to cuddle all day. taken in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario, Canada by @shepshepbern

365 days 🕊️🤍

It’s been a full year without you. There isn’t a morning I don’t wake up and think about you or a night I go to bed and wish you weren’t still here. There will never be another you, and for that I’m grateful because you were one of a kind. I miss your crazy antics and big cuddles, I miss how you would act first and think second, you really did teach me to live life to the fullest. Thank you for getting me to climb mountains and explore places we had never been before. Thank you for connecting me to a community and people I would have never gotten to know. Because of you I have friendships around the world and that’s pretty cool.

Wow and Georgia that you sent us is bat shit crazy - thank you because you knew I needed the laughs to heal. She is you in so many ways you knew I needed the comforting.

I love you and miss you and I’ll miss you for 365 more,

Happy Monday ✨🤍

So my type 1 trained alert dog apparently now hates my insulin pump alert sound on my new pump and runs for the hills. The shitty part I can’t change the sound to help her out.

We are working through but for now every time I have a low blood sugar she wants absolutely nothing to do with me until the next day 🤦🏻‍♀️ taken in In The Woods by @shepshepbern

Happy Friday!

Henry George is still kicking, still catching red squirrels and mice. Still living his best outdoor life. I know, I know it’s controversial but at this point he’s 12 and I’m not bringing him in now and he’s like a very very very very well loved barn cat because he only comes inside to eat LOL.

We love him so much he’s our honorary 4th dog.

Other news I lost the 55lbs - I only needed 10 but wanted to get into the best shape I could to feel my best. Our IVF journey starts again. I’m not really telling people I know it puts too much pressure with people constantly asking what’s happening but I need to say it somewhere so all you kind lovely strangers but not strangers are the ones I’ll tell 🤍

Glad to be back I missed my venting outlet.

Eleanor just being the very best girl - always.

This girl has been by my side the last almost 10 years, through every high and low and in between. What she always does is stay consistent - greets me at the door quietly with a tail wag and a hug. We have been so MIA over here. I haven’t gone this long not posting in a while and it felt kind of good I’m not going to lie. There was no pressure, and I was off my phone a lot more than I used to be.

But, we did miss catching up with everyone.

How are we at the end of July?

Summer feels to have come and gone - but I’m so excited to Fall + Winter to come around. I know, I know but I just enjoy the quiet and peace of it all. I taught myself to like Winter and now it’s my favourite season. I just wish the sun was around longer, but fresh wood burning in the fireplace, a glass of wine and cuddles from the pups are some of my favourite evenings spent.
