A year it's been, but with GOD, I'll always win!

This happened yesterday. The Head Coach Dwane Casey and his wife Brenda Casey of the @detroitpistons adopted Pure Heart Foundation ( @pureheartcares ) for Christmas for the fifth year!

It’s no words that can truly explain how grateful I am for Coach Dwane Casey and his Wife Brenda Casey. Not only did they WOW 38 of our new Scholars yesterday with an experience they will never forget.

They also called up their friends and amongst them all, they donated 35k to double our impact campaign and to purchase @pureheartcares a VAN!!!

Pure Heart having transportation will eliminate transportation barriers, enhance after school program's and most importantly, take my babies to see their incarcerated parent!!!

Thanks to the Casey's, @mojointhemorn and DMS and Anthony, we have now raised $71,942 towards our Double Our Impact Campaign!

So this happened today! I, SHERELLE HOGAN received the FIRST Inspire Change Maker Award for the @detroitlionsnfl Inspire Change Initiative. As the honoree, We received 10k and @pureheartcares Double Our Impact Campaign was MATCHED with 100k presented by @comerica_bank and The @detroitlionsnfl My Cause My Cleats!

Pure Heart Foundation was apart of the Inspire Change Initiative as Grantees since 2019 and as we exit, it was an honor to be recognized as the Inspire Change Maker. Congratulations to all the 2023 Inspire Change Partners!
We are proud to be apart of the Detroit Lions Foundation family! They truly represent one pride!

I am ELATED to announce that Pure Heart Foundation has been re-selected as a 2026–27 Inspire Change Grantee! 🎉💙 @pureheartcares
I am deeply honored to lead this organization and do such humble, meaningful work.

When I founded Pure Heart, it was simply to be the change that I needed—and that young people still need today. To now have the continued support of the Detroit Lions is a true testament to the truth that “eyes have not seen and ears have not heard” what God has in store. 🙏🏾

This opportunity and partnership is a beautiful example of integrity, good stewardship, and trusting in God’s perfect timing.

Children with incarcerated parents may share a similar life challenge, but they are each uniquely brilliant, gifted, and worthy of every opportunity to thrive.

Our mission is to empower them to thrive ANYWAY.

Despite the stigma.
Despite the statistics.
Despite the doubts.

We see them. We love them. We believe in them.

And we know that with equal access to resources, a safe space, and a community that believes in them, they can—and WILL—break cycles and reimagine what is possible for their lives.

It’s time for Pure Heart’s Back-to-School Funding Campaign! And this year is extra special because we are celebrating our 11th year of supporting and celebrating our scholars as they prepare to return to school!

For just $18.00, you can help fill a backpack for a child with an incarcerated parent. 🎒

As Giving Tuesday approaches, we invite you to consider making a donation to help ensure that Pure Heart scholars return to school prepared, confident, supported, and ready to thrive!

Why does this matter?

Children with an incarcerated parent can face unique emotional, social, and financial challenges. Your support can help:

Cycle Breaker season is upon us! ✨

Last week, we celebrated the incredible Pure Heart Golightly graduating seniors and the remarkable journeys ahead of them. 🎓

Did you know statistics suggest that children impacted by parental incarceration are more likely to enter the criminal justice system before completing high school?

Well, here’s another example of the system being wrong.

Our youth are cycle breakers.
Our youth are brilliant.
Our youth are resilient. 💚💜

The Cycle Breaker Scholarship Fund was created to support graduating seniors as they take their next steps toward purpose, education, and opportunity. This year, Pure Heart will award $20,000 in scholarships!

For the last 11 years, Pure Heart has served children with incarcerated parents by creating a community where they are loved, seen, supported, and no longer feel alone.

For the past 6 months, Pure Heart CEO Sherelle Hogan has been working closely with students at Golightly Career & Technical Center through our pilot initiative, “Cycle Breakers”💜

What started as weekly sessions became something much bigger — a safe space, a support system, and a growing community for students navigating life with incarcerated parents. A place where they no longer feel alone.

This partnership with DPSCD marks the beginning of breaking the cycle of incarceration — one student at a time.
