Grief doesn’t always arrive dressed in black.
Sometimes it arrives as strange landscapes,
impossible creatures,
conversations with the moon,
and a body learning how to exist in a world that suddenly feels unfamiliar.

I painted what I couldn’t explain.

There are two of me speaking at once.

One keeps counting the spaces;
what I lack, what I cannot give,
where someone else might fit better.

The other keeps widening the room.

But when I let the first one speak long enough,
it says something I didn’t expect:

You will never be everything to someone.
There will always be a door you cannot open,
a language you cannot speak,
a place where you are simply not the right shape.

Maybe that is not the wound.

Maybe the wound is believing
that wholeness requires filling every space.

We’re all just little kids, moving through life without knowing how much of what we call a “choice” is shaped by what we’ve experienced.

Perhaps not every path we take is chosen by the body or the mind. Perhaps some choices come from somewhere deeper; from the soul; gently guiding us toward the places within ourselves that still ache, the wounds we haven’t met, the darkness we’re afraid to touch.

And maybe these encounters aren’t here to break us, but to expand us.

To open the heart beyond what it once knew.

But first, the heart must tear.
It must crack open enough to let something new in.

Some friendships grow up with you.
Some feel like home from the very beginning. 🤍
