Running an effective communications strategy in Latin America goes far beyond simply translating global campaigns. We are not talking about delivering content in Portuguese or Spanish, but having a conversation that genuinely resonates with the local audience.

In Latin America, brands are challenged by different languages, cultural contexts, behaviours and consumer habits, which vary drastically from one country to another. In practice, what works in one market may fail in another; there is no formula for success. The key is understanding local nuances and building tailored strategies.

Rather than just making the case, here are a few data points to prove it:
Platform habits vary widely: In Peru (38%) and Mexico (33%), Facebook remains the top choice for news consumption. In Brazil, YouTube takes the lead (29%), while X drives the strongest engagement in Chile (32%).
WhatsApp holds unique strategic weight: While viewed primarily as a personal messaging app in many markets, WhatsApp in Brazil is central to news consumption and business dealings. Brazil accounts for the largest share of connected users in the region (160 million), making it a primary hub for daily content sharing.
TV still dominates daily media habits: Overlooking traditional channels is a common mistake when viewing LATAM from the outside. TV remains a primary daily news source, particularly for Brazilians (78%) and Peruvians (74%).

In short, to build authentic connections, brands must look beyond surface-level adaptations and embrace each market's cultural context. At Sherlock Communications, we combine deep local intelligence with strategic vision to deliver campaigns that hit the right tone at the right time.

Is your brand factoring these regional differences into its LATAM strategy? Get in touch with our team!

October 12th has different names and meanings across Latin America: Día de la Nación Pluricultural in Mexico, Día de los Pueblos Originarios y del Diálogo Intercultural in Peru and Día de la Diversidad Étnica y Cultural de la Nación Colombiana in Colombia. In Brazil, the date marks something entirely different: Nossa Senhora Aparecida and Children's Day.

These differences aren't simply about names, but reflect the social conversations that have shaped how each country understands and communicates its own history. And that happens with language all the time.

A word may work in one market and lose its meaning in another. A concept may take on new connotations. A conversation that wasn't previously at the centre of public debate may become a priority. And these changes don't always move in one direction. In Argentina, for example, the government has returned to using Día de la Raza in its 2026 holiday calendar, even though the law still recognises Día del Respeto a la Diversidad Cultural.

For a brand coming from outside the region, understanding this is essential. In Latin America, communication is shaped by each country's history, experiences and cultural context, and those differences aren't always apparent from a distance.

At Sherlock Communications, we believe that before speaking to an audience, you need to understand it. That means recognising that Latin America isn't one market, and that language and its meaning can change, sometimes faster than brands realise.

A trend can start on TikTok, but understanding where it goes next requires local knowledge. “Aura farming” has moved from memes and online slang to real-life events across LATAM.

That’s where Sherlock Communications comes in. We help brands identify cultural trends, understand how local audiences are engaging with them and find the right opportunities to participate. From PR and influencer marketing to social media and local activations, our teams turn local insights into communication strategies that make sense for each market.

Our team successfully helped Kaseya make a strong debut in Latin America with their first-ever Kaseya Connect Local event, hosted at W Bogota!

With teams on the ground in Brazil and Colombia, we delivered full end-to-end support from day one, from the initial room layout, stage design and AV production to all the custom gear, giveaways and an amazing tapas and drinks menu to wrap things up.

More than just execution, the integration of technology, immersive design, and strategic content directly supported Kaseya's regional positioning. We brought together 150 IT pros and MSPs, sparking high-value connections and solidifying its presence in LATAM.

There's nothing better for us than hearing feedback from our clients and understanding the real impact we have on their business. 💬 For over 10 years now, we've helped global brands launch, scale, and protect their reputations across Latin America.

And their feedback reflects the three things we try to bring to every client relationship:
🎯 Local Expertise: Deep, ground-level understanding of Latin American markets, media landscapes and cultural nuances.
🗣️ Partnership: Working as an extension of our clients' teams, rather than simply as an outside agency.
📊 Results: Creative strategies built around tangible metrics and measurable market impact.

Expanding into Latin America with a "copy & paste" strategy is one of the fastest ways for a brand to fail. That which drives earned media in Brazil won't build trust in Chile. That which captures attention in Mexico won't resonate in Argentina.

True local knowledge goes beyond having people on the ground; it's about knowing the unspoken rules, cultural nuances, and media dynamics that turn messaging into real business impact.

Across Latin America, we help global brands navigate each country's complex, high-potential landscape with true cultural fluency.

We’re delighted to share that three campaigns developed with our clients have been named winners at the 2026 SABRE Awards Latin America, one of the most prestigious recognitions in corporate communications.

With Aggreko, original research helped turn a complex energy transition story into a platform for leading the debate across Latin America.
With the Zayed Sustainability Prize, we helped bring the stories of Latin American changemakers to a wider international audience.
And with Skyscanner, we used travel data and locally relevant storytelling to build trust across the region.

These campaigns won Company of the Year, Caribbean, and Travel & Leisure, while our work with other clients in multiple industries also received 20 Certificates of Excellence in 16 campaigns.

We’re especially pleased to see such a broad range of client work recognised across Latin America. Thank you to our clients and to everyone in the team who contributed to these campaigns.🏆✨ by @sherlockcomms

Over the past two weeks, Sherlock Communications supported Bitget Wallet to strengthen its positioning across Latin America.

We started in Brazil, where the team took part in Blockchain Rio (August 13–15), supporting Bitget Wallet's presence at the event, including a keynote by the company’s COO, Alvin Kan. We secured media opportunities for Kan and Federico García Ferrando, LATAM Growth Manager, with Brazil's BP Money.

From there we moved to Argentina, a key market in the region, where we arranged media opportunities for Alvin Kan with leading outlets including La Nación, El Cronista, Forbes and El Observador, reinforcing Bitget Wallet's regional strategy beyond Brazil.

Thank you to the Bitget Wallet team for trusting us to lead this effort on the ground, and to every journalist and partner who made these conversations happen. by @sherlockcomms

From venue sourcing and supplier management to media relations and on-site execution, every detail was planned to deliver a seamless experience across all three markets.

The events brought together Aggreko specialists and leading journalists for conversations about the future of mining in Latin America, creating valuable opportunities to exchange insights and strengthen the brand's relationship with key media across the region.
