“When a man loves cats, I am his friend and comrade, without further introduction.” -Mark Twain
I love this quote, and if you are a cat lover, you will also love it. This is a watercolor portrait I painted of Hannah.

Do you mix your blacks? Or, do you use tube colored blacks? It’s not hard to get a deep rich black using 3 primaries. Make sure you have fresh paint out (otherwise, you won’t get that deep vibrant black). Mix Quin Burnt Orange (red and yellow primary) with Ultramarine Blue. You will be adding more blue to the mix since Blue has the darkest value of the three primaries. Use very little water and lots of pigment. This painting of Lollipop was painted with these colors. Give it a try. Scroll to the right to see the progression of this painting.

I love painting Springer Spaniels. To get the beautiful reddish brown color, I mixed magenta, sepia, and quin burnt orange. This guy’s name is Ireland. #animallover❤ #springerspaniel #watercolorpainting #doglover #commissionpainting by @sherrydaerr

This handsome Cocker Spaniel belonged to my Swedish friends. He passed away so they asked me to create this memorial painting for them #cockerspaniel #doglovers #watercolorpetportraits #commissionedart #dogpaintings by @sherrydaerr

I love painting profiles or 3/4 views. This pretty little tabby cat’s name is Mika. Usually, but not always, orange tabby cats are male. Do you know anyone who has a female orange tabby?

This handsome guy is owned by a Vet who has had every one of her Boxer’s that she has owned painted in watercolor. This is the fifth painting I have created for her. Isn’t he handsome?

What do you think about bows and dogs? Not only is it cute, but sometimes it’s necessary to keep the hair out of their eyes. In this case, who would want to cover up this lil’ gal’s pretty eyes? Do you put bows on your furry kids? by @sherrydaerr

My last commission of 2024. I finished it at the eleventh hour and overnighted it to my client. It arrived Christmas eve just in time for Christmas. This gal’s name is Smiley. Made me smile while painting her! by @sherrydaerr
