For the past 11 years, softball has been one of the biggest parts of my life. It has taught me discipline, confidence, resilience, and what it means to never give up—even when things get tough. Not every chapter of this journey has been easy. I came from a team where I had a a bad experience with a coach who did not believe in me. It took away my confidence and drive to play. There were days I refused to go to practice, wondered if I should even keep playing, and thought that I was not good enough. I eventually built up the nerve to leave that environment. It took me 3 and 1/2 years to figure out that I was not the problem and I could make a change. It was hard for me to try and imagine playing on a new team until I found my home.
I was nervous at first but this has been the best 3 years of my softball career. I have gained my confidence back and found who I am.
I want to say thank you to Coach Danielle, Coach Rich, Coach Lori, Coach Mike, Kenzie, Brynn, and Alexis. Thank you for believing in me, encouraging me, pushing me to be better, and reminding me why I fell in love with this sport in the first place. You’ve created an environment where I can grow, learn, make mistakes, and still feel supported. That’s something I’ll never take for granted.💕
I’m beyond thankful to be surrounded by people who lift each other up instead of tearing each other down. This team has reminded me that the right coach can change an athlete’s entire mindset, and the right teammates can become family.
And to my teammates, I will forever love you all. Thank you for always cheering me on. I am so proud of the players you have grown into. I promise I am always a call or a text away. You guys will do great next year. This is not goodbye it is see you later. 💕
Looking back, I’m grateful for every challenge because it led me here. After 11 years of playing this game, it is finally my time to hang up the jersey, cleats, and put away the gear.
