CAN A HEALTHY MARRIAGE HAVE A “THIRD PARTY”?

Hear me out before you judge the title. 😂
When I say third party, I don't mean someone who comes into your marriage to control you, take sides, carry your matter around, or tell you how to run your home.
That's interference.
What I'm talking about is guidance.
I believe that as a couple, you should have people you both respect and can listen to—people who have walked the journey you're walking and have something meaningful to teach from their own experience.
Yes, God and the Holy Spirit are our ultimate teachers. But sometimes, God uses people to correct us, guide us and help us see what we may not be seeing.
There may be moments in marriage when you and your spouse are both hurt, confused or too close to a situation to see clearly.
And in that moment, having someone you both trust to say, “Maybe you need to look at this differently,” can be a blessing.
The problem is that we've started thinking that involving anyone outside the marriage automatically means the person is interfering.
It doesn't have to be.
For me, a healthy “third party” is not someone who comes between a husband and wife.
It's someone who can hold your hands and walk with you.
Someone who has done the journey successfully.
Someone you both agreed you can listen to.
Someone who isn't looking for gossip, control or relevance in your marriage.
Because let's be honest—marriage is beautiful, but it isn't always easy. Every couple will have difficult seasons. And with how many marriages are struggling today, I don't believe the answer is for everyone to say, “It's just the two of us. Nobody should know anything.”
Sometimes, wisdom is found in allowing the right people to help you.
So, singles and married people, I want to hear from you:
Do you believe every marriage should have a trusted third party—someone they can both listen to—or do you believe marriage should strictly remain between the two people involved?

🤍 SEWN INTO MY STORY
THE WRITTEN VERSION OF CHAPTER FOUR — AND THEN, MY STORY CHANGED
If you've been following my story, you already know this journey began with waiting.
Waiting after marriage.
Waiting through the questions.
Waiting and quietly asking, “God, when will it be my turn?”
Then came December 2024.
My husband and I went back to complete the traditional rite we had left undone before our wedding. The women welcomed us, teased me and said, “Go and become fruitful.” 😂
I laughed, but those words touched a tender place because I was still waiting.
Little did I know, my story was already changing.
Shortly after that trip, I conceived.
And the funny thing? I didn't even know immediately.
I was busy with my business, making clothes, preparing for carnival and simply living my life.
Then sometime in 2025, I found out:
I was pregnant. 🤍
And this taught me something.
Sometimes, you've prayed about something for so long that your eyes are constantly fixed on it. But while you're looking, God may already be working behind the scenes.
You prayed for it, but you don't have to spend every moment overwhelmed by it.
Sometimes, just live.
Keep working.
Keep growing.
Keep trusting God.
For me, when my attention wasn't constantly on the waiting, I suddenly realized that the very thing I had been praying for was already becoming my reality.
I don't claim that completing the traditional rite caused my pregnancy. I can't say that.
I simply believe in respecting culture, honouring what needs to be honoured, and above all, giving God the glory.
Because ultimately, God did it.
On September 4, 2025, I became a mother to my beautiful son. 🤍
And that is where I close this chapter.
From waiting… to becoming a mother.
If you're in a waiting season, remember: your waiting does not mean God has forgotten you. Sometimes, He's working on the story while you are simply living it.

CHAPTER FOUR — AND THEN, MY STORY CHANGED
December 2024.
My husband and I had gone back to complete the traditional rite we had left undone before our wedding.
At the time, I didn't know that this would be one of those moments I would look back on and remember so clearly.
When we got there, the women were happy to see us.
And of course, they didn't let me escape their teasing. 😂
They told me things like, “Go and become fruitful.”
I laughed, but deep down, those words touched a very tender place in me.
Because after more than a year of marriage, I was still waiting.
Still hoping.
Still wondering when my own testimony would come.
But I didn't know that my story was already changing.
Not long after we returned from that trip, I conceived.
And honestly, I didn't even realize immediately.
Life was moving so fast.
I was busy with my business, running around, making clothes, preparing for carnival and doing what I normally do.
I wasn't sitting down thinking, “Oh, I must be pregnant now.”
Then, sometime in 2025, I found out.
I was pregnant.
After all the waiting.
After all the questions.
After all the “When are you expecting?”
After those quiet moments of asking God, “When will it be my turn?”
It was finally my turn to say:
“God did it.” 🤍
Looking back, I still can't tell you that one particular event caused my pregnancy.
I don't want to create a connection where I cannot prove one.
But I can tell you what I know:
God answered me.
And when He did, He reminded me that His timing is not always our timing.
The waiting season had moments that hurt.
Moments that made me question.
Moments that made me wonder if my story would ever change.
But it did.
And on September 4, 2025, I became a mother to my beautiful son.
Today, as I look at him, I can only say:
God was writing my story all along.
Maybe that's why I had to wait.
Maybe that's why I had to learn certain things before becoming a mother.
I may never understand every detail of the journey.
But I know the ending of this chapter:
I waited.
I prayed.
I hoped.
And God answered. 🤍
