![HYROX just got bought out 👀
PE fund L Catterton is leading the acquisition of a majority stake in HYROX, reportedly valuing the fitness brand at around $700M.
For a concept that started in Germany less than a decade ago, the growth is pretty incredible. HYROX has crossed over hard into the U.S. — its New York event drew 50,000 athletes, with another 21,000 on the waitlist.
But the buyer is just as interesting.
L Catterton has roughly $40B in AUM and has been making some big bets on fitness. It acquired a majority stake in [solidcore] in 2024 and backed EGYM, which later combined with ClassPass and Mindbody in a $7.5B deal. Its past investments also include Equinox, Peloton, CorePower Yoga and Pure Barre.
There’s clearly something happening in group fitness.
Boutique fitness made working out social. HYROX has taken that further — creating something people train for, travel for, compete in and build community around.
So now I’m wondering: what’s the next HYROX?
What fitness concept is building the kind of community, participation and cultural momentum that could become the next breakout category?
That’s a space I’m interested in covering for Forbes.
