POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

in the spirit of the Gesamtkunstwerk, without creating one in actuality or entirety, I am making an etching to go alongside the music video for BANSHEE. It’s a scream, a wail, a roar, a howl, a shriek, a keen, a knowing of death and all its darknesses. I haven’t decided on the details yet like what kind of an edition it’ll be (open/ limited!) or if I’ll sell them online or what, but for now making it is the blessing. Stay tuned 🪄✨

(p.s. the acetate plate is dancing with light and a clear sheet of paper in the background to create the illusion of a fully realised image without actually having printed it yet. I plan on printing it at home using a tiny press bought from @openpressproject !) by @shimmerer_00000

Hi im angelica and “shimmerer” is my baby / project. Its kinda hard to describe because its power comes from being somewhat elusive and contained. Its a musical project/ persona informed by my experiences with complex trauma and healing from this. It’s about magic, about time-travel, about mythology, about the power of the female voice, about transformation etc. the best stage for shimmerer to perform is in the sparkling ocean, second best probs the woods on a lightly windy day, where the trees rustle and you feel a ✨presence✨

I started singing waaaay back but never felt connected to my voice until recently. My music practice is informed by my poetry practice and visual art practice ! But you won’t find either of those things here … you’ll have to go to my website or substack for that 🤭

I’m currently working on creating a track, video and visual art accompaniment for a song I wrote a few years ago called BANSHEE. it’s inspired by lots of things rlly… about grief, loss, wailing, keening. About the stories we tell ourselves and believe. About feeling.

I hope u like it when it arrives - I’ll pop it on YouTube probs and put clips here.

For now I’ll remain in an in between place - both online and offline - suggested here by my cap hehe

“Thank you but not today”

But also thank you - for being here - and witnessing my process ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 taken in London, United Kingdom by @shimmerer_00000

i was inspired to make this after seeing a reel by @dylangoffsmusic !! many thanks for the vibes !!

ofc cannot fail to mention the incredible @radiepeat and @lisaoneillmusic who use the harmonium/ shruti in their performances~

(am singing and sharing this tune today, which references the 1798 Irish Rebellion, in the spirit of freedom… freedom from oppression, from harm, from being crushed by despair, from injustice, from tyranny, etc.)

i suspect i’ll continue experimenting with my shruti & seeing what other curious delights unfold when combining Irish or Gaelic tunes with a beautiful drone sound 🖤.

if anyone fancies buying or lending me a harmonium lmk 👀👀 all in the name of richer and more various sounds ofc.

This [✨snapshot✨] is how my latest music video ends. To me, the song or tune evokes an icaro, or a magic song, or even a lullaby.

The melodies that arrive (in my Being) mysteriously through the æther are numerous. I wonder if they are informed by my Bhakti yoga practice, something I have been connected to for some time, mainly via the work of @sivanimata 🥰

Surely the tunes must have something to do with my ancestors, some of whom were travelling Irish musicians, I found out a couple of years ago.

Perhaps it’s not worth dwelling on the exact origin. And just let it mysteriously move me/ you, and move through me/ you…
