Two weeks ago I accompanied my best buddy on a trip of a lifetime that will not leave my head and my heart. I have so much to say about this trip it’s hard to put into words but I’ll give it my best.

It was a dream come true, exploring rolling hills and forests, discovering lakes and following cows all on horseback. We drank Lambrusco, we giggled endlessly, we shocked toothless men, we went full gremlin, we styled each other, reassured each other, taught each other, and we always had each other’s backs. I didn’t know these amazing women going into this and naturally was cautious, but they made it so easy to break down the silly walls I had going in. They healed the little girl in me who had been scorned by horse girls in the past. They brought back my faith that the most powerful women lift you up, not bring you down. They halted my narrative that I’ll never fit in to the horse world. I appreciate every single one of you 💕

Pip, my beautiful and hilarious steed for the weekend, shone so bright and I got to see her true colours. Smart, expressive, curious and goofy, she hasn’t always fit the mould of the steady predictable trail horse. But with active listening, confidence and two way conversations there is no other horse I feel more connected with. I am so proud of the little mare she has become I’m so excited for our bond to continue to grow.

Some things seem just a tiny bit impossible… like packing up 6 girls and 6 horses and everything we all need to be off grid for 5 days, driving half a day to a beautiful isolated ranch and just living in a bubble with each other. But we did just that, thanks to the generosity and kindness of our hosts at @tullstarr.ranch.life. Everything about this trip was magical, including the little pack of magnificent pups who welcomed us with wagging tails and open hearts.

I can’t say enough good things about this trip. So grateful to have been a part of it. It feels like the beginning of something amazing and I’m just so pumped!

I’ve had possibly the most eventful month of my life and as usual barely any photos to show for it. But we love a good life update.

We decided to stay in Squamish.

I finally got what I’ve been waiting for and working towards for 14 short years - permanent residency to stay in Canada indefinitely.

Geoff and I planned and pulled off an amazing engagement party surrounded by his family and our incredible sea-to-sky community. (Photos will be coming for this)

We set a date for our wedding.

One of my best friends welcomed her little one to the world.

I gave my notice to my beloved job, just ready for new and different things.

At the end of the month, we packed up our four bedroom home and moved into an apartment, finally just the two of us.

Relaxing for now, but excited for what’s ahead in this new chapter 💕

Oh and I bought a truck by @shiningdragons

Had an absolutely magical time showing my love where I grew up and introducing him to my family! Every time I go back to England I discover more weird things about it and my bond to my homeland gets a little stronger.

Things I noticed this time around:
- They love puffed up crisps
- Pints in London are literally double the price of pints anywhere else
- Less people have dogs so dog-watching was sub-par for my taste
- Cars are starting to get bigger but the roads and parking spaces are staying the same size which will be an entertaining development
- Murder on the Dance floor by Sophie Ellis Bexter is guaranteed to be played at some point during your pint at any pub at any time of day
- Haggis is still and always will be fucking delicious
- Despite my previous experiences and prejudices, people really are (generally) warm and welcoming

There is a reason I moved away, but there’s many reasons I still hold it close to my heart. Spending time with my family is forever and always number one.

My Mum would remind me after I moved out to go and hang out with horses, because she saw how much they calmed me as I struggled with anxiety as a teenager. I didn’t listen to her until I was 30, when Covid hit and Hanna and I were quite frankly bored out of our minds, and after realizing we were both ex-horse girls decided to find a place we could ride again. She discovered Second Chance Cheekye Ranch, a rescue where we could have the opportunity to lease horses, volunteer our time and hang out with these guys to help them become socialized to find new homes.

I very quickly fell in love with a little mare I was working with, and adopted her after very little thought 😅 but I don’t regret a thing. Now, over two years later, she is finally leaving the ranch to a new home in Pemberton so the two of us can explore more trails, meet new friends, and unlock more of her riding potential.

As exciting as this new chapter is it’s also bittersweet. This ranch became a kind of second home for me, somewhere I could breathe. It’s the place I rediscovered the horse girl I had buried for over a decade. It’s the place I met some awesome characters - Erika, Steph, Andrea, Caitlin, Vanessa, Donny, Karen, Doug, Phil, Ciara, all who helped me in some way and all helped each other.

A huge shout out to Jim who is the reason behind my connection with Pip - he immediately paired us together for some reason and it was perfect. He is the reason we are where we are.

And of course, Kris. This unbelievably hard working woman who has the biggest heart and the busiest schedule I have ever seen. She still always has time for everyone, every horse, every dog, every living being. She even gave me a home when I was going through a really awful period, which I will never forget.

All to say, it has been an experience of a lifetime and I’ll thoroughly miss spending my time at this place, I am grateful for every moment there.
