Shirley Shor | August 2026

Shirley Shor is a new media artist whose work explores the intersection of art, technology, and spirituality.

Since 2000, she has developed a distinctive artistic language that combines real-time technologies with an exploration of perception, identity, language, and human nature. More recently, she developed the concept of Digital Shamanism- an artistic approach that views technology as a medium for experience, presence, and human transformation.

Her work has been exhibited internationally in leading museums and galleries, including Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery (NYC) and Paula Anglim Gallery (SF), and is held in the collections of SFMOMA, the Berkeley Art Museum, the Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA), and The Jewish Museum (NYC).

Shor holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Art History from Tel Aviv University and an M.F.A. in Conceptual Art and New Media from San Francisco State University. She has also been a guest lecturer at UC Berkeley and Stanford University.

In recent years, her practice has expanded into phototherapy, sound, and consciousness, creating works that integrate art, deep listening, the body, and presence into immersive experiences. ⁨ ⁨ ⁨ ⁨ ⁨ ⁨ ⁨ מתאוששים מהמסע שהיה לנו בשבת בחוף הים בגעש.

שוב סולד אאוט, עם כמעט 200 אנשים שהגיעו בשקיעה למסע צלילים.

התחברנו, הקשבנו, פתחנו את הלב ועפנו למקומות חדשים,
עם צלילים ותדרים מכלי נגינה עתיקים וחדשים…

יש סיבה שאנחנו קוראים לזה מסע.

כי אנחנו יוצאים לחקור, לטייל ולהכיר את עצמנו.

וכמו בכל מסע, לפעמים הוא קליל ונעים ולפעמים יש גם אתגרים.

וגם אנחנו עוברים מסע דרך ההכנות, הכוונות והביצוע.

היום יומולדת 🎉 השנה אני בוחרת לחגוג ע״פ התאריך החתיך העיברי - א׳ ראש השנה.

שתמיד תאיר הא׳ את דרכי,
תוביל אותי בדרך של אהבה,
ותשמור עלי עטופה באור, אמת ואמונה.

⁨ תם ונשלם.

בחודש האחרון זכינו להעביר מסעות צלילים
לכמעט 1,000 אנשים 🤍

שבוע אחרי שבוע.
על חוף הים בשקיעה.
בבריכות, על גגות, בטבע,
באירועים פרטיים ובמרחבים חדשים.

כשאני מסתכל לאחור,
אני לא זוכר רק את המקומות.
אני זוכר את האנשים.
את הסיפורים.
את ההודעות.
את החיבוקים.
את התודות.
את הרגעים שפשוט
הסכמנו להיות.

עם כל מפגש שעובר,
משהו מתבהר לי יותר ויותר.
הקסם לא נוצר רק מהצלילים.

הוא נוצר מהחיבור בין כל מי שנמצא במרחב.
מהרגע הראשון ועד הרגע האחרון.

צוות ההפקה, הקבלה, העיצוב והאסתטיקה,
הטבע, השקיעה, הצלילים,
המשתתפים, החברים, הזוגות, הילדים…
העובדים, ולפעמים גם הכלבים 🙂

כל אחד מביא את הקסם שלו.
וביחד נוצרת מערכת יחסים שאי אפשר לתכנן מראש.
ניתן רק להיות נוכחים.

תודה לכל מי שבחר לעצור לרגע ולהקשיב.
תודה לכל מי שלקח חלק ביצירה של כל הרגעים הקסומים.

כמו שאנחנו אוהבים להגיד:

המסע האמיתי הוא בין המסעות.

⁨ ⁨ ⁨ ⁨ ⁨ יש נקודות בזמן שבהן אתה יודע שקרה משהו מיוחד.
וכך היה בשבת האחרונה, במסע צלילים בשקיעה על חוף הים.

דר׳ נעמה אושרי פתחה בדברי השראה 🪷
אחינועם ניני שרה את שירת הבריאה ✨
ואלון יעקובי ניגן על הפאנטם לצבעי השקיעה ☀️

ואנחנו…
ריחפנו על הגלים,
נשמנו את הצבעים,
הקשבנו לצלילים,
ויחד יצרנו רגעים,
שבהם הקסם פתח,
חלון שדרכו אפשר להכניס שינוי,
של שלום, אהבה וריפוי.

והדבר שהכי ריגש
היה המנעד הרחב שהצלחנו להחזיק יחד:
צלילים, תדרים, גוונים, אנשים, רגשות ורגעים.

כל כך הרבה עולמות,
וכל זה בחוף אחד,
שקיעה אחת ולב אחד.

מחכים כבר לפעם הבאה 💛

⁨ אהבה היא רק ההתחלה.
חומר הגלם.

כמו עיפרון מול דף חלק,
כמו שני קווים שנפגשים באמצע תנועה
ומחליטים ליצור שפה משותפת.

זוגיות היא כבר האמנות עצמה.
הבחירה איך לאהוב,
איך להקשיב,
איך להישאר קרובים
מבלי לאבד את עצמנו בדרך.

בחג השבועות מדברים על ברית.
לא רק הבטחה,
אלא הסכמה להמשיך להיפגש מחדש,
גם בתוך שינוי, קצב ותנועה.

Art that moves (2026) Video Art. The series explores the intersection of movement, frequency, and consciousness. The lines become a language of frequencies- visual sequences of motion, rhythm, and repetition.

The works are accompanied by a frequency-based soundtrack that deepens the sensory experience, connecting the visual field with the sonic field. Together, movement, color, and sound create a space where frequencies are not only seen, but also heard and felt within the body.

In this way, a multi-sensory experience emerges, where lines and fields of color function as visual frequency fields, guiding the body and consciousness into a gentle rhythm of breath and inner observation. #shirleyshorart by @shirleyshor

Art That Moves. Meditative Art. #liminalspaces

When I speak about a *liminal space*, I refer to a moment in-between. not structured thinking, yet not a loss of awareness.

It is a space where the familiar softens and the grip on outcomes relaxes.
Between waking and dreaming, between tasks and thoughts, time becomes more elastic and the mind begins to move in a more open, associative way.

The series Art That Moves attempts to give a visual form to this process.
to describe the in-between itself, the process through which something new emerges from frequency.
