You try so hard to make things work the way you want, only to end up taking unnecessary stress over things you were never meant to control.

Sometimes, no matter how much you try to figure things out or force your mind to reach a certain conclusion, it only creates more confusion and mess.

So, I’m learning to let things be. What’s meant to happen will happen, and what isn’t in my control, I’ll leave to destiny.

कुछ उपन्यास केवल कहानी के आधार पर नहीं पहचाने जाते। कुछ अपनी भाषा के लिए, कुछ अपने पात्रों के लिए और कुछ उस सन्नाटे के लिए जाने जाते हैं जो आखिरी पन्ना पलटने के बाद भी मन में ठहर जाता है। नियति नटी मेरे लिए उसी तीसरी श्रेणी का उपन्यास है।
लगभग आधी किताब पढ़ते समय ऐसा महसूस होता है जैसे लेखक जीवन को किसी नतीजे पर पहुँचाने की जल्दबाजी में नहीं है। वह घटनाओं का सृजन केवल कहानी को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए नहीं करता, बल्कि इसलिए करता है ताकि मनुष्य का आंतरिक जगत थोड़ा और स्पष्ट हो सके। इसी कारण यह उपन्यास पढ़ते वक्त कई बार रुककर विचार करना पड़ा—सिर्फ पात्रों को लेकर ही नहीं, बल्कि स्वयं को लेकर भी।
यहाँ संघर्ष को न तो बहुत बढ़ा-चढ़ाकर दिखाया गया है और न ही उससे भागने का प्रयास किया गया है। जीवन को उसके वास्तविक स्वरूप में ही स्वीकार किया गया है। जहाँ आशा है, वहीं थकान भी मौजूद है। जहाँ रिश्तों का जुड़ाव है, वहाँ अकेलापन भी है। यही सामंजस्य इस उपन्यास को विश्वसनीय बनाता है।
लेखक की लेखन शैली का उद्देश्य दिखावा करना नहीं है। इसकी भाषा सहज है, मगर साधारण नहीं। शब्दों में कोई बनावटीपन नहीं है, फिर भी उनमें रची भावनाएँ हर क्षण गहराई से महसूस होती हैं। कई संवाद ऐसे हैं जिन्हें केवल पढ़ा नहीं, बल्कि महसूस भी किया जा सकता है; यही एक उत्तम लेखन-शैली की विशेषता है।
एक बात जिसने मुझे विशेष रूप से प्रभावित किया, वह यह है कि यह उपन्यास सफलता और विफलता के उन अनुभवों को समान महत्व देता है जो अक्सर कामयाबी की चमक में ओझल हो जाते हैं। हम अक्सर मंज़िल पर ध्यान देते हैं, लेकिन यह किताब सफ़र की बात करती है। यह उन क्षणों का वर्णन करती है जब मनुष्य टूटता है, परिवर्तित होता है और स्वयं के बारे में कुछ नया जान पाता है।
मुझे नहीं लगता कि यह उपन्यास सबके लिए है। यह उन पाठकों के लिए है जो साहित्य से केवल सांत्वना नहीं, बल्कि संवाद की अपेक्षा रखते हैं। जो कहानी पूरी करने के बाद मात्र किताब बंद नहीं करते, बल्कि उसके साथ कुछ पल बिताते हैं।
