The people around you shape everything.

Your mindset. Your energy. The doors that open for you.

Sit with people who play small and you start playing small too.

Sit with people who think bigger and you start to play bigger too.

You raise your standards without even trying when you’re around the right people.

That’s the power of the right room.

Your community is your advantage.

Continuing the summer catch-up with another great night from the same crew. A couple weeks after Michael’s celebration, I was back at the same spot to capture @shivanotary ‘s birthday. Grateful for the trust and the chance to document these milestone moments. 🎉🥂

These four speakers share a common theme that ties them together: how we find each other and build something larger than ourselves.

Dave Jonsson (@davejonsson) survived a plane crash and never stopped skateboarding. As founder of The Belong Centre (@thebelongcentre), he turns hardship into a call for empathy and belonging, proving that even the hardest chapters can lead to hope and community.

Shiva Ghayemghamian (@shivanotary) is a notary and community educator. She uses a human-centred approach to law, making legal knowledge more accessible and meaningful while reshaping how her profession serves families and communities.

Noel Bentley, speaker, emcee, and humourist, blends wit with insight to spark meaningful dialogue. From hosting TEDxSurrey (@surreytedx) to coaching storytellers, he shows how public conversation and laughter can transform the way we connect.

Megan Shallow, CEO & Lead Social Media Unicorn at BNL Media Consulting (@bnlsocial), believes social media belongs at the decision-making table for brands. She’ll show how, when used with intention, it can spark real-life connections, build trust, and create spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported.

Art Dodd, entrepreneur, ordained minister and seasoned speaker, bridges the worlds of business, faith and personal growth. He invites us to pause and ask what truly matters, reminding us that purpose often lives at the intersection of our experiences.

Join us on October 11th at 2:00 pm at the Kay Meek Arts Centre (@kaymeekartscentre) for TEDxWestVancouver and be part of an afternoon where stories of resilience and creativity inspire real connection.

Tickets are available now through the link in our bio.

Come ready to be moved, challenged and inspired.

Shiva is a Notary Public and entrepreneur who’s built her career on integrity, courage, and a bold sense of self-worth. Her journey will challenge how you think about the agreements you keep in life, and the ones you should break. Coming soon to TEDxWestVancouver!
