Papa,
Sitting here today and writing this and knowing that you are gone doesn’t feel real and I’m not sure if it ever will. I knew this day would come for a good portion of my life but it is still unfathomable. You were not only my grandfather but someone who I was very close to and you became a father figure to me. You were one of my best friends. Having a grandparent live with you for over 15 years is not typical but it was my normal and he made everyday special. Having papa live with my family and I was the biggest blessing and gift I could have ever received. The lessons he has taught me and my sister will forever be cherished as well as every laugh we shared together. Papa has dealt with unimaginable health conditions over the past almost 16 years of my life, and that has taught me to live everyday to the fullest and always appreciate the small moments in life. Seeing him at his hardest times has inspired me to take care of others that are just like him and keep me pushing to be better everyday. I will miss visiting you, hearing you sing happy birthday to me every year, going on ice cream dates together, and most of all just spending time with you and listening to you and all of your stories. You will forever be missed and never forgotten, the void that is now left in my heart will never be filled. I love you forever and always papa.
Forever love,
Your fruit basket ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ by @shivaun.smith
