POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I’m pleased to say that their resurrection ritual worked! Thanks to this *WILLING* group of victims, I, Mausolena, have officially gathered enough sacrifices to continue my work on the Shockwave Documentary! ⚡️📺

Last night we had an ghoulishly good time at an early screaming of @shockwavedoc V1 (or as some may call it, patient zero.) I am prepped, refreshed, and thoroughly embalmed, ready to pickup my evil deeds where I left off. Remember, your support isn’t just appreciated, it’s also compulsory! See you very soon. 🫀 Mausolena by @shockwavedoc

A little less than a month ago, I presented at my first ever conference: Cine-Excess International Film Festival and Conference in Birmingham, England! My paper, “Horror Hosting and Nostalgia in the Internet Age” adapted my research on horror hosts from the Shockwave Documentary to the conference theme, “Reanimated! Reviving Cult Film’s Dead Objects”. I discussed the history of horror hosting and its impact on horror media history, as well as the ways that modern day horror hosts are using nostalgia and retro media practices as a means of resisting or counteracting the effects of streaming and internet media. I am so grateful that I was able to contribute to this wonderful scholarly conversation about horror media and its cycles of nostalgia and renewal & I was so inspired listening to everyone’s presentations!

Thank you to the lovely horror academics who welcomed me into the space so graciously, and to the organizers of Cine-Excess for seeing the value in my work and inviting me to attend in person. I couldn’t have asked for a better first conference experience. I’ll be posting a longer blog post with my reflections soon, and I’m always continuing my work on the Shockwave documentary, as well as my horror hosting research. ⚡️⚰️🕸️ Stay tuned, more to come! 🖤 Mausolena by @shockwavedoc
