This kid had a weekend playing Defense. AAA tournament week in Palm Beach with Alliance. Played 5 games finished 3rd place. Four hour drive back to Tampa to sleep, then turn around drive to Ellenton ice arena playing two Sahof games Sunday. Clearwater ice storm rolled both games for W. To end the weekend. Strong defensive efforts and some assists. Oh and there was some of this too... by @shonuffschultz

Right now I am floored. And practically speechless but I'm about to do my best to to explain this picture and the significance. Tonight I was paid a visit by a remarkable guy that I'm lucky enough to call my friend and teammate. Joe Urie gifted me this sweet Metis Nation Sweater and gear its a direct reflection of his heritage and culture. He gifted me the sweater off of his back, and an education complied through conversation and story. He 'painted the picture' of his story better than the sunset can paint a sky. Vividly. And it was all for me to better understand the significance of this beautiful sweater. In a 30+ minute conversation that felt like 10, he touched on a full history that didn't feel like the tip of an iceberg but more like a dusting of snow off the top. So much more to hear about and understand really. I consider myself lucky to be apart of Uries trip...in spreading his awareness, love, and culture. On my birthday week (Nov. 19th) this is a great gift to accept and put a special perspective on life. Things can show up when you least suspect and may need the most. Thank you Joe for sharing you presence and passion via animated gestures and eye contact in a way that only a vibrant passionate historian / story teller can. Thank you for your friendship I look forward to sharing more conversations with you in the future and following along your journey via socials. And ofcourse sharing the ice with you as a Drunken Clammer brother / Teammate
This is a thing hockey can do. Kinship and community. I am greatful for all this and its another reason why I play.
