When we saw how well these Limited Edition 849 Ballpoint Pens from @carandache matched with the artwork of Helen McNicoll and Mary Cassatt we had to bring them in for the Impressionists Between Worlds exhibition shop

.
The Cherie hat from @canadian_hat is handcrafted in Montréal. Its square crown is embellished with a dark European grosgrain ribbon to highlight its shape evocative of the authentic impressionism style similar to several hats found in Helen McNicoll's works.

Sarindar Dhaliwal: When I Grow Up I Want to be a Namer of Paint Colours exhibits more than 40 years of artmaking by the South Asian Canadian artist. In this, her first AGO solo exhibition, the artist’s significant contribution to Canadian art will be illustrated by a selection of key works, including meticulously rendered drawings and mixed media works from the 1980s to the 2000s, alongside large-scale installations and recent photography

Artist Statement: "The Muses Collection was inspired by Buddha’s talk about virtues in groups, as with the Five Spiritual Faculties of Faith, Persistence, Mindfulness, Concentration and Wisdom. Women in time immemorial, were seen as muses for everything, from songs, art, poetry, music and even war. They were powerful, beautiful, sensual and natural leaders of their communities. In reflecting on the overturning of Roe vs Wade in Supreme Court ruling June 2022, Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health. I wanted to highlight the racial disparities that would leave a ripple effect for people with uteruses losing their body autonomy without having access to safe and legal abortions. I wanted to show the true victims, BIPOC who would have dis-appropriate access to abortions. I also wanted to humanize those who would truly be the victims of patriarchal fallout."

Apanaki Temitayo M is a Toronto-based multidisciplinary artist. Born in Toronto and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, she is an author, spoken word poet, actor, multimedia artist and teacher. Her canvas compositions are an expression of her Trinidadian heritage and spirituality. She recently was honoured by the Women’s Art Association of Canada through Uptown Pride, featuring LGBTQ+ artists creating unique art within their choice of media

📚 Yesterday AIGA announced their 50 Books | 50 Covers winners and we’re thrilled that What Matters Most: Photographs of Black Life is among them. Thank you @aigadesign and all the jurors. We especially love this juror comment: "The cluster of pictures and embedding of the title into the visual space of the image is spot on: a cache of found Polaroids and prints from another era before digital photography that gives us a glimpse into Black life during that time.”
The 2022 winning selections will become part of the AIGA collection at the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Columbia University’s Butler Library in the city of New York.
