Why we don’t work with gold-plated ✨ 🫧 Need to know 🀿 β€’ GOLD PLATED: Base Metal: Inexpensive metals like brass, copper, or stainless steel. Gold Thickness: Very thin (often under 0.5 microns). Durability: Wears away, fades, or tarnishes quickly. β€’ GOLD VERMEIL: Base Metal: Sterling silver (925). Gold Thickness: Thicker layer, legally required to be at least 2.5 microns thick (and typically 10k gold or higher). Durability: Lasts longer than standard plating and is more hypoallergenic because of the sterling silver core, though the gold can still wear off over time. β€’ GOLD FILLED: Base Metal: Brass or a core metal with a solid layer of gold. Gold Thickness: A thick, heat- and pressure-bonded layer of gold that makes up at least 5% of the item’s total weight (5 to 10 times thicker than plated pieces). Durability: Very high durability, tarnish-resistant, and built for everyday, long-term wear.
