POSTS STORIES REELS

I’ve been so busy lately that I’m always looking for little pockets of peace before the day begins. It’s become one of the most important things I do for my nervous system. A good book, a cup of tea, a quiet house before the emails, projects, and responsibilities start asking for my attention.

Luckily, I’m one of those people who wakes up at 5 a.m., so I get a few precious hours that belong only to me. Giving myself that time helps quiet my mind, keeps my body calmer, and honestly feels like one of the best things I can do for my autoimmune health. More than anything, it makes my soul happy.

I think people sometimes imagine a “soft life” means quitting your job, moving to the country, or escaping to the desert. But I don’t think that’s true. A softer life can be built anywhere. It’s less about where you live and more about how you choose to spend the moments that belong only to you. The small rituals that nourish you, center you, and help you move through the rest of the day feeling a little more like yourself.

For a long time, I thought the greatest loss of my life was losing my home in the Eaton fire.

But healing has a funny way of showing you what was really weighing you down.

Closing BellJar was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. It was a dream I built over 18 years. It introduced me to incredible artists, lifelong friendships, and a deep appreciation for beauty.

But somewhere along the way, I also tied my worth to my work. I lived in a world of comparison, pressure, and constantly wondering if I was enough.

I still love beautiful things. I always will.

The difference is that today, I find beauty in slower mornings. In meaningful conversations. In nature. In relationships. In peace. In becoming more myself and less who I thought I needed to be.

Losing everything didn’t leave me with less.

It made room for the life I was actually meant to build. 🤍

Hey everyone, it’s been almost a year since I closed BellJar. Some of you still follow me over on my other account @sasha_darling and know that I retreated to the desert after the fire and closing the shop.

I’ve just started getting back into real estate, now focusing on the desert, Joshua Tree, 29 Palms, Morongo Valley, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, and the surrounding areas. I’ve been working hard to build a new client base outside of LA. I had to take some time off after everything to focus on my mental and physical health, but I’m slowly finding my way back.

On my other Instagram, I’ve been easing back into real estate and sharing homes out here. But I’ve also been wanting to talk more directly to camera about my life, healing from the fire, living with a chronic illness, redecorating my house, my dogs, all of it. The real, everyday stuff.

I don’t always feel like I can do that there because I don’t want to alienate potential clients.

So I’ve been thinking about bringing that side of me here and making this account more personal, more about my life and this next chapter.

I don’t know… maybe you were just here for the pretty things I sold at the store. But I’d love to hear from you.

Would you be interested in that? Would you follow along? Would you think I’m a little crazy?

Magic still exists! Also, I forgot to mention that some people sent me Venmo‘s, some people sent me boxes of clothes, some people sent me massages. Some people sent me Cash gifts. Some people just sent me lovely notes. It doesn’t really matter what the gesture was, it is all so received in such a meaningful way. Even though I feel completely a drift right now your kindness and support is keeping me partially grounded. I love you all.❤️❤️❤️❤️ by @shop_belljar

I tried to get one of you to buy this big gorgeous rug that was at the shop, but none of you wanted it! Your loss may gain. My little Joshua Tree cabin that I’m living in temporarily loves it. Ps I miss you guys! by @shop_belljar

Come get stuff shop owners by @shop_belljar

Today was insane. We got more online orders than we knew how to deal with that mixed with the store being absolutely bonkers with people shopping in person. Honestly, it’s a hard thing to deal with/ watching a store that has been slowly suffering because of the economy in LA, to all of a sudden be slammed because we’re giving everything away for basically free. It’s just hard to watch and be a part of. But on top of that we sold out of some items that were purchased online. We’re getting tons of emails from people angry. Please know that if we didn’t have something that you ordered online, we will take it off your order and refund your money. Please be patient with us. This is a very hard time not just for the owner but also for the staff. And the level of outrage from people that just received gorgeous handmade items for 75% off just because we didn’t have something on the order anymore, well, it just is a really hard thing to deal with. We’re all doing the best we can. by @shop_belljar
