This collection is for my mom.

She taught me how to sew when I was a little girl and ran a sewing school out of our house—one of my most treasured childhood memories. I grew up spending weekends in her sewing studio, watching her create so many beautiful things for us—ruffled dresses, matching Sunday church outfits, sun bonnets, always lots of frills and lace. Peak 90’s. Without her, there would be no ennui.

She passed away unexpectedly less than five months ago, and three months ago, I became a mother to another little girl without her here. There has been so much grief and so much joy wrapped up together this year.

I found myself coming back to the things she left behind: faded Laura Ashley flannel sheets I found tucked away in the linen closet, dusty blue lace from her sewing materials, old fabrics and little things collected and saved over decades.

This collection (and really this whole brand) is about heirlooms, domestic textiles, motherhood, and memory. Housewears for the ordinary parts of life— clothes to be comfortable in, to grow and change in, for slow (or chaotic and messy) days at home. Things that get softer and more worn with time and become part of our memories.

Making this collection gave me somewhere to put my grief, and frankly distract myself, in an impossibly difficult time. It helped me keep my mom close and her memory alive. It’s always been for you, but this one especially.

Rest easy, Mama. I hope I made you proud.

Come see the collection on the runway this Friday at Hudson Valley Sustainable Fashion Week @hv_sfw @stoneridgeorchard , and shop it in person Saturday at the Slow Fashion Fair. 🤍 by @shopennui

That old t-shirt sitting at the back of your closet? Bring it with you.

To celebrate National Upcycling Day, we’re gathering with fellow Kingston designers for an evening of creativity, community, and hands-on making. We’ll show you how to transform an old t-shirt into a reusable tote bag, then customize it using materials and techniques inspired by each of our brands.

Think vintage lace, kantha quilt scraps, embroidery, mending, and thoughtful details that give new life to old materials.

No sewing experience required. Just bring a t-shirt you’d like to reinvent (or use one of the limited extras we’ll have available) and leave with a one-of-a-kind tote bag.

We hope you’ll join us for a fun evening celebrating the beauty of making something new from something that already exists.

Due to the unexpected passing of my loving mother Joanne, I’ll be taking time away to be with my family and prepare to welcome my second daughter.

We said goodbye to her on Beltane, under the Flower Moon—a moment that feels both surreal and strangely meaningful as I’m so close to bringing new life into this world.

My mom is the sole reason this business exists. She taught me how to sew when I was young, and she built her own sewing school while raising four young children. She lived and breathed creativity, and passed that on to me (and so many others) in every way.

The very first Ennui collection was made entirely from her vintage fabric archive—years of textiles she had collected and saved. Those pieces came directly from her hands and her life’s work. If you own one of those early pieces, please know how much more special it is now.

I’m so sorry to miss @basilicahudson Farm + Flea this Mother’s Day weekend—I was truly looking forward to it. Thank you for your understanding and for holding space for me and my family during this difficult time. I am looking forward to continuing this work and honoring my mama through every piece I handmake for you all.

Here’s a small compilation of my mom and the many, many pieces she made with love. Her 90’s matching sibling outfits are in my DNA—and at the heart of the inspiration behind this brand 🤍 by @shopennui
