🎉 Big day for Healdsburg and 20 years in the making! The opening ceremony for the Foley Family Community Pavilion took place this afternoon, Monday, December 15th, marking an exciting new chapter for our community.

The Foley Pavilion will become the permanent home of the Healdsburg Farmers’ Market @healdsburgfarmersmarket and to the delight of the crowd, has a charming European-market feel—a place to gather, linger, and celebrate all things local.

In 2026, this pavilion will come to life as a multi-use community hub, featuring:
✨ Space for 500–800 people as an event venue
✨ A catered kitchen
✨ City-powered electricity from Healdsburg’s publicly owned utility, and public WiFi
✨ Public restrooms! Plus, Elkay water filler station, and
✨ A place that will become a central hub, like the Healdsburg Plaza.

Huge thanks to the @cityofhealdsburg, council members past and present, the Foley Family, Parks & Rec, and the many locals whose vision and support helped make this project possible.

A little background (via Healdsburg.gov):

“The Foley Family Community Pavilion honors more than a century of Healdsburg’s agricultural history. Built in the early 1920s as a produce distribution and canning facility, the Cerri Building played a key role in the region’s fruit, nut, and vegetable industry and its rail-driven connection to markets nationwide. Acquired by the City in 2005, the building was nearly demolished until strong community advocacy preserved this iconic agrarian landmark. After nearly 20 years of planning and fundraising, the former cannery will reopen in winter 2025–26 as the reimagined Foley Family Community Pavilion.”

“We’re upgrading in every single way,” Sean McGaughey said. [Sean is the co-owner and husband of @melissayancs] “We’re adding a dining room, the kitchen is bigger, there’s better traffic flow and a nicer parking lot.”

“The bakery will continue to serve its signature breads, cookies and laminated pastries, but with its new 35-seat dining room, it’s also expanding into breakfast. Expect numerous nods to Yanc’s Turkish heritage, such as Cilbir (poached eggs baked in garlic yogurt) and Turkish-style bagels, which are dipped in sesame seeds and a grape molasses syrup before baking. The signature dish, Turkish breakfast, will likely feature bread with jams, cheese, olives, a fruit or vegetable, and a soft-cooked egg in its shell, served in a custom egg holder,” reported @sfchronicle Oct 17, 2025.

Happy holiday season ✨ It’s been a wild year—and nearly five years of running this passion project.
@shoplocalhealdsburg started as a feeling: a love for local discovery and connection.

I grew up in my parents’ small grocery store in Cairns, Australia, built by immigrant hands and big dreams with origins from the Philippines 🇵🇭 , Australia 🇦🇺 and America 🇺🇸 30+ years ago. It did more than support our family—it showed me how a family-run shop can hold a community together.

When the pandemic hit, those lessons came rushing back. I worried about places I loved and were my go-to— @sheltonsnaturalfood, @downtown_bakery_ (a warm pretzel croissant is divine!) — and started this account as a creative outlet alongside my full-time legal tech career.

Five years later, it still reminds me that joy lives close to home—behind small storefronts and in the people who show up with heart every day. Thank you for following this account and joining along on its local journey ❤️

Healdsburg has no shortage of beloved, long-standing antique shops, and this summer welcomed a charming new addition. In July, Hudson Street Vintage, (@hudsonstreetvintage) opened in the Old Roma Station building — a smaller warehouse-style space filled with beautifully curated finds.

Owner Constance Brown (of Healdsburg Vintage fame) returns with her fifth collective, bringing even more charm to a neighborhood already loved for its tasting rooms and river-side vibe.

Brown is no stranger to the world of rare and retro treasures. She opened Healdsburg Vintage in 2009 and sold it to Modern Antiquarium in 2016; Hudson Street Vintage marks her fifth collective. “I couldn’t stay away,” she laughs. “I like this business too much,” Constance shared with @sonomamag Nov/Dec issue.

You’ll find 13 local vendors, including Western Sky Vintage’s cowboy-cool finds and Fiori’s 1970s treasures from fifth-generation local Dawna Hoskins.

#Repost. HBG Grill’s Takeover Expected to Be Ready by Dec. 10th.
“@chefcharliepalmer isn’t involved with right now? Healdsburg’s busiest chef is taking over Healdsburg Bar & Grill - formerly owned by Doug Keane and Nick Peyton - and he’s bringing his famed boeuf bourguignon with him.
In mid-December, Palmer and original HBG owner Danya Richter will debut a full refresh: a new menu, a new bar program, updated décor and a reworked outdoor space.
The move caps a busy stretch for Palmer, who recently opened Folia at the Appellation resort in Healdsburg, continues pushing for a similar project in Petaluma, and still oversees restaurants in New York City, Napa and Healdsburg’s own Dry Creek Kitchen,” reported @pressdemo on November 26, 2025.

Yesterday, @healdsburgbarandgrill posted on their Instagram that this is indeed true, sharing a preview a their refreshed menu (their classic burger 🍔 and fried chicken 🍗 will stay) while Palmer will add his Sonoma County spin on Beef Bourguignon and will add other new dishes. Their cocktail menu will also get a refresh. And expect some warm Sonoma touches to their interior and patio.

Plus, a Holiday Community Party 12/17 — we’re all invited. 🍻

Step into Healdsburg’s beloved small shops — many family-run and rooted here for decades — where time seems to slow down and every shelf feels like a curated love letter to this town and a place you’ll find one of a kind gifts. These aren’t just places to buy things; they’re places that will take you back in time, where you’ll delight in the creakiness of wooden floors, and be reminded why local shops matters. Some of these shops don’t have a website or a social media presence. What they’re holding on to for many years: coveted premium locations right by or very close to the Plaza and the joy of being local favorites.
