Better get to Livin’!! What an honor to be part of the inaugural @fieldtoflip powered by @picking_michigan and hosted by @michiganantiquefestival ! We spent the day in Davisburg meeting the most wonderful people and being surrounded by so much light and love.

We picked some gorgeous treasures we will auction in a competition held Monday, October 12 at 2PM EST on our @shopthebuts WhatNot channel.

Thank you to all of the collectors who worked so hard to make their finds available for us to dig - thank you to Michigan Antique Festival - thank you to all of our fellow competitors for making this SO FUN - thank you to Picking Michigan for being the host with the absolute most - thank you to Kelsey’s mom for making us Chicken & Dumplings when we could no longer walk - an enormous thank you to @phoenixfiberarts for babysitting us all day - wild thank you to all of you who tuned in and will tune in Monday! When he lights up at his finds 🫶

When they have you sell their great grandmother’s wedding coverlet 😍

When the live auction is over and you’re catching your breath before you ship.

When you grab a quick lunch after picking up a Flow Blue collection..

When you realize how quickly they’re growing up…

When one person orders 50 salt and pepper shaker sets…

When you drive all over the state to support your friends @aubmarley

When they call for an estate linen closet pick-up and ask you to be there in 20 minutes…

When the boat has been pulling the tube since dawn….

Our reality.

Brex had his first school dance last night.

Two nights before this, we thought he would miss this milestone and be hospitalized for an extended period.

Almost 15 years ago, when he was born, we were told he would depend on steroids to stay alive for the rest of his life.

Brex has Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, which means his body doesn’t produce cortisol properly. Physical illness, injury, or even emotional stress can trigger a life-threatening adrenal crisis if his body can’t keep up.

So when we came home to him clutching his diaphragm in pain, our minds immediately went there.

Thankfully, it wasn’t a full adrenal crisis. He was stabilized and able to come home, but this is our reality.

There’s the “behind the scenes” of our business… and then there’s the real behind the scenes. The why behind everything we do.

We built this life so we can be there in a blink of an eye for moments like these. The terrifying ones and the beautiful ones.

From hospital scares to school dances in the same week.

Another sold out vintage decor morning show… and lately, after we end the live, he’ll randomly scoop me up for a dance.

A year ago, I honestly didn’t know if we’d ever feel this light again.

Jeff was recently diagnosed with PTSD connected to his time in the Army, and there were seasons where we genuinely didn’t know if our marriage would survive it. There were nights that felt impossibly heavy.

But somehow… we kept choosing to fight for each other anyway.

Now we get mornings like this. @7brewcoffee energy drinks, vintage treasures, and dancing in the warehouse after a live with all of you.

So if you’re in a hard season with your person right now, please hear me when I say this: dark nights do not last forever.

And to everyone who spent their morning with us today, thank you. Truly. Thank you for being part of our little corner of the world.

Because behind every laugh, every joke, every burst of energy on our lives… there was a very real battle fought to get here.

I grew up hearing this song in the car over summers following my Granny and Papaw through auctions, estate sales, and old barns full of treasure. My Granny always told me that people spend their whole lives collecting the things they love… and what an honor it is when those treasures get to pass through our hands next.

She taught me to respect it.
To honor it.
To remember every dish, lamp, quilt, and sweet little goose meant something to somebody.

And honestly… I think that’s why estate sales still feel emotional to me now.

Because somewhere between the smell of old wood furniture, 7am line numbers, and me aggressively speed-walking toward my find of the day, life came full circle.

Now I spend my days doing the same thing with my own husband and kids:
teaching them that old things are worth saving,
that collections deserve another cherished chapter,
and that filling your home with pieces that were loved before you is a pretty beautiful thing.

(…also teaching them how to politely elbow their way toward the best vintage linens. Important life skills…)

Truly though, of the coolest parts of this journey has been finding people who care about it the same way we do.

Aubrey from @aubmarley and her estate sale team genuinely love what they do. They step into hard, emotional seasons for families with so much compassion and care. They understand this work isn’t just about “stuff.” It’s about helping families honor someone’s lifetime while making sure the pieces they cherished end up with people who will treasure them for years to come.

And somehow… all of us vintage-loving weirdos find each other through it all and get to be a part of continuing the story.

So thank you for following our journey, cheering us on, and letting us share this little world with you.
