I used to be so scared of working with knit fabrics, but look! 👀

Tbh I’ve been on the hunt for a t-shirt for sooo long. Why?
😭 the fit was off
😭 necklines are usually too low
😭 usually there’s too much polyester/ synthetics
😭 if price is too low, was it made ethically?

The. Struggle. Is. Real.

And it was so satisfying being the one to source, design, and produce this 🥹

Haven’t got photographic evidence of the finished product but lmk your thoughts to this…

Best part of @websummit tech conference?

Checking out all the retail tech from an @hm VP who talked about…

✅ real-time product tracking on the sales floor
✅ ordering stuff in the fitting rooms on a screen
✅ getting AI style suggestions based on what you brought into the room
✅ tailoring each store not based on geography but shopping patterns
✅ having heat maps of the stores in real time

I was drooooling 🤤

It’s been over a decade since Hointer (robot delivery system to your change room although I always suspected it was elves) and quite a few years since Amazon Store’s RFID that allows for ‘Just Walk Out Tech.’ I’m so not techy but when it comes to shopping… I’m obsessed.

A couple of other cool companies I came across were an AI company that scans your skin and recommends products 💅 and the pitch competition winner that dyes using microbes generated colour (cuz we all know how harmful chemical dyes are).

Long story short, I found my people at a #techconference 😛

Okay so this was just an excuse to post about the Airbnb we stayed at on Salt Spring Island 😁

But I do rigorously test, which means I wear it to work for 8.5 hours, throw them on friends (thanks @ifferwong!) and do wash tests to build in shrinkage.

This shirt fit Jen perfectly before washing but I found it tight in the shoulders after taking it out of the dryer. It’s linen so it’s gonna shrink. I know you’re thinking why am I using a dryer on linen?! Because I’m low maintenance and I want my clothes to be too.

I was so pleasantly surprised to see my VERY FIRST CUSTOMER ordered a second JumpSet! 🫶🏼

Of course, I had to ship it out properly. When I was trained in retail, helping customers steam clothes was a real nice added bonus. That’s what I try to do with Shortlisted too—every customer matters and deserves the time, care & attention.

On another note, hope you had a good Mother’s Day! (However that looks like for you) :) I got to sleep in 😭 and read and write ✍🏼 Gonna share some of my creative journey on stories since I’m too lazy (and kinda scared) to post on grid ✌🏼

I’ve been keeping up with the attack at the 2nd annual Filipino Lapu Lapu Day festival in Vancouver.

Even though it doesn’t seem like it’s a hate crime (and more so a mental health issue), I still feel it sets back the Asian community at-large. Every time it seems like we make some progress, it’s two steps back.

And of course I can’t help but remember… The shooting at the LA ballroom dance studio in Jan 2023. The two Filipino men attacked in San Francisco last year, unprovoked. In March 2023, the 6 Asian women who worked at nail salons in Atlanta lost their lives. And of course I can’t ever forget the 65 year-old woman who was stomped on ‘viciously and repeatedly’ in broad daylight by a man in Times Square in March 2021.

I’m remembering these events here because I don’t want to forget.

And I don’t what the right thing to say is (which is why I rarely comment on events or even holidays ) but as an Asian person living in Vancouver and business owner who has hosted events for women of colour, this hits too close to home. It’s heartbreaking. And I hope the families & loved ones of the 11 deceased find support in community in these difficult times.

I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend a beautiful weekend brunching with one of my fave petite girlfriends.

Sometimes we wish for the world, the lottery, to be thinner (or taller), go on more vacays, the next big career move… but sometimes we don’t realize the simple things are the real prize.

Contentment with the friends who see you 👀, a damn good London Fog 😋, sunny Vancouver days ☀️… and of course tops—and pants—that fit our short proportions.

I don’t have the capacity and resources to release my dream collection, but I plan to keep chipping away at it, once piece at a time!

A boxy (but not oversized) cropped shirt was always something I wanted to do, and this one finally looks fitted enough with lots of arm movement!
