Open invitation to one & all whether you’re a #ducati rider or not we welcome all to join us for a @349corse track day. We have riders of all abilities riding not only #ducati motorcycles on the day, this day is for @doclse.club members & their bike riding friends & family to come together to enjoy the thrill of a track day in a group of likeminded bike enthusiasts. No egos here, no lap record attempts just good company and a safe track environment provided by @msvtrackdays who will be hosting the day @ #brandshatch Indy circuit. Been a good while since I’ve been out with the #insta360 on my #streetfighterv2s but this morning gave me that opportunity as I had a few errands to run & needed to set the camera clamp without a selfie stick ready for the upcoming @349corse track day this Tuesday @ Brands Hatch Indy circuit with some of my fellow @doclse.club members. All sorted & what an enjoyable ride it was with temperatures still manageable & the roads incredibly quiet for a Saturday morning. Amazing evening @ Donnington Park circuit enjoying the hospitality of @aruba.it_racing thanks to the incredible generosity of @doclse.club & of course @ducatiuk for the invite. Joined by my daughter @kitsune.t.tt & numerous other #ducatisti including the lovely @ducatiliz67 & her husband Andy it really was an evening to remember. Never a dull moment owning & riding a 25 year old #Ducati996s & this week has been no exception. Started with a noticeable drop in performance & some rather unhealthy sounding induction noises off the throttle which had me scratching my head as it all happened rather suddenly on a rather spirited ride out the weekend before last. Having delved into the timing belts to relieve my worse fears there was nothing to write home about other than a rather cooked looking electrical connection from the rectifier, but after testing the charging circuit and another short run there was still something not quite right. That’s when I noticed there was a blowing from one of the exhaust mid section slip joints which seemed to have become misaligned, so in we went to remove the silencers, mid section back to the slip joints to the down pipes & after giving everything a good clean and a wipe of copper slip everything went back together and I’m glad to report that this has solved the issues of the drop in performance and we’re well & truly back in the game. She was pulling hard again & we’ve gained a deeper appreciation of the #desmoquattro v twin & just how a small leak in an exhaust joint can have such a dramatic effect on performance with these #vtwin power plants. I’m certainly getting my moneys worth with regard to keeping her running with the hands on home maintenance & that feeling of taking her out for a test ride to find you’ve solved the issue is priceless ❤️ #forzaducati #zenandtheartofmotorcyclemaintenance by @shortshift_stan

My love of this bike is no secret, but I’m reaching new levels of appreciation for it as the marvel of modern day motorcycle engineering design that it is. Every time I delve a little deeper, pushing myself beyond my own level of understanding, learning how the sum of its parts equate to something much greater when it’s being ridden as intended. The connection between man & machine is something that gives me a deep sense of self satisfaction, a whole new level of mental wellbeing that is sadly absent from so much of our modern lives as we become absorbed with a pace of life that sees us trying to beat the sun from rising each day. I heard someone say just the other day that money should be spent loosely & time wisely. Took the old girl out for a nice little run around the Winkfield / Warfield back roads of choice yesterday afternoon. Put her through her paces on some of my favourite routes at a fair pace & she took it all in her stride without even breaking a sweat, unlike myself 🤭 No overheating issues, no brake fade & even the suspension kept its part of the deal & allowed for some enjoyable moments getting my moneys worth from the #pirelli #supercorsa v3 sp tyres holding a tight line on some challenging blind corners 💀 Had to eventually call time out as even though the 25 year old #ducati #996s would have happily carried on regardless, I was ready for a cold drink & a quiet afternoon on the shade 🤭 @doclse.club @349corse #throttletherapy taken in Winkfield by @shortshift_stan

Little follow up to my post about the @pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa iv fitted to the Streetfighter. This time it’s the Super Corsa v4 sp fitted on my #ducati996s & why I chose these rather than the Diablo again ? The Super Corsa is basically a single compound track day tyre offering high levels of grip but with obvious lack of longevity if used as a road tyre covering greater mileage. As the 996 is only insured on a limited mileage policy & is not going to clock up the miles I do on the SFv2s the compromise seemed worth while. The SP version fitted is the Street Performance rather than the SC special compound that is an even softer compound not suited to road use. I’ve clocked 450 miles on them now, mainly on my choice of Berkshires back road twisties I enjoy riding so much & 100% dry use they’ve been an excellent choice on the old girl & just like the Diablo Rosso give an amazing amount of feedback on the brakes, coupled with confidence inspiring levels of grip when on the edge they certainly enhance my riding experience on a completely analogue bike with absolutely zero rider aids. The 996 is a very taught bike, requiring nothing more than the slightest of rider inputs to change direction and take turns at high levels of lean & these Super Corsa v4 sp certainly help maintain a feeling of the bike taking corners on rails both on entry & exit. A no compromise tyre designed for sports bikes being ridden hard & fast. Someone said the weekend is just around the corner so we’re #flatout towards a fantastic #ducati group ride with members of both @doclse.club & @surreydocgb celebrating a joint members 60th birthday by riding to #goodwood to watch him take a ride in a #spitfire before heading down to #littlehampton for some well earned fish @ chips.
