My kind of cake!! @sarah_kieffer Buttermilk Cinnamon Rolls! by @shortsweetpiebaker

No actual crimes were committed earlier today on our ‘crime spree’ aka ‘pastry crawl’ through Somerville and Boston! Our only crime was that we were ‘down to clown’! And taste and taste… and there was a fair amount of butter involved I’m guessing .. and caffeine! Follow me and @sophasouth along our route:

Baking for joy has its benefits! This recent creation was baked with joy for two beloveds tying the knot…. FINALLY!! The bride set the guidelines for me and I ran with it… an absolute knock out of a white cake from @zoebakes was perfection layered with fresh raspberry compote and the silkiest Italian meringue buttercream ever!! Decorated with abandon with greens and flowers from @traderjoes! (Yup!) I’m quite pleased with it if I do say so! by @shortsweetpiebaker

When the birthday girl makes her own birthday cake she does what she wants! Here is a favorite vanilla buttermilk cake topped with Italian meringue buttercream flavored with a summer compote of raspberries and rhubarb.. that color! And flavor!! Bright and fresh.. and a whimsical design! ❤️ by @shortsweetpiebaker

A fresh picked Blueberry Pie in tribute to Kittery’s own Maine Meat @mainemeat .. closing this Sunday, September 6th after 12 delicious years.. BUT WAIT… the best is yet to be.. they will REOPEN at their new location in late September at 2 Roger’s Road, Kittery, just a block or two off the Foreside with a new name, a butcher shop, a restaurant and a whole new vibe! Can’t wait to see what’s next for Shannon and Jared!! Your friends, neighbors, and devoted customers will be following you and cheering for you as you embark on your next great adventure! Chuiso for now, Aperto for the future! ❤️ by @shortsweetpiebaker

Just a simple French butter cookie (sable) rolled out and decorated with tinted dough blueberries and leaves.. didn’t want to waste a scrumptious scrap so I cut them in squares.. European butter takes them to the next level.. and using vanilla paste for flavoring.. pretty darn cute, right?? ❤️🫐 by @shortsweetpiebaker

@sarah_kieffer’s Almond cake with chocolate, and Amaretto Buttercream!
Buttermilk, sour cream and almond paste make this delicious creation irresistible… rich cake layers are brushed with melted dark chocolate and then slathered with Amaretto Italian meringue buttercream! My imposter decorating skills are concealed by snazzy coloring and piping tips and flourishes with the sweetest edible flowers I planted for just this purpose! My very favorite cake! 🥰 by @shortsweetpiebaker

Vanilla cupcakes topped with luscious lemon buttercream, colorful sprinkles, a blueberry and my homegrown borage flowers! Delicious, festive, and so snazzy for a multi generational family reunion celebration picnic! ❤️🇩🇰🫐🍋💃 by @shortsweetpiebaker

Strawberry ‘Brita’ Cake for an early summer evening pot luck thanks to @susanspungen and her perfect recipe! A vanilla cake batter is topped with a light and airy meringue and then baked.. topped just before serving with whipped cream beaten to soft peaks with crème fraiche and a dash of vanilla along with macerated strawberries oozing their gorgeous juices.. this dessert is a MUST make for a summer gathering! by @shortsweetpiebaker

Inspired by Pride month to make something special… an all butter sable tinted with the colors of the rainbow 🌈…cut out and baked with ‘pride’! @doriegreenspan’s recipe is so versatile.. it bends beautifully to my will every single time! Be sure not to skimp and use European butter for the most buttery bite! by @shortsweetpiebaker

What began as a serious side hustle during Covid became almost six years of turning butter, flour, sugar and a few other ingredients into thousands of pies, hand pies, crostatas, tarts, cookies, bars, cakes, and fancy and simple desserts for the sweetest following of friends new and old, family and loved ones.. and if you know me you know it’s my love language.. I’ll continue to experiment and create according to my own whim, to travel and experience new pastries, taking pictures and sharing them, luring you into tasting with your eyes.. but I’m hanging up the Short & Sweet apron! No more orders will be accepted. Thanks for coming along with me.. what a great time I had!❤️🌷 by @shortsweetpiebaker

Can you love a bakery you’ve never visited? A pastry chef and her aesthetic you’ve never experienced? YES! Today I FINALLY made it to From Lucie in New York’s East Village! No disappointments here.. from the charming street facade with sidewalk cafe tables to the tiny interior and lovely pastry staff.. I’m hooked and still swooning! The New York Times voted From Lucie ‘the best chocolate chip cookie’ in the city.. a very high bar!! The assortment of ‘French countryside’ inspired cakes and petite ‘gouter’ lined up along the counter for my delight filled me with joy! And… Lucie Franc DeFerriere has just released a new cookbook! … can’t wait to bake through it! ❤️ by @shortsweetpiebaker
