![Joy in Art and Community - PorchRokr Music and Arts Festival [16AUG2025]
///
I’ve lived in Akron for 5 years now—longer if you include my time in undergrad—and kept hearing about this cool festival right in Highland Square called Porchrokr. Without fail, I kept having prior obligations out of state or a few cities away and had to keep missing my chance to experience it for the first time. This year, I finally blocked off the date months in advance and am so grateful that I did.
The moment i stepped out of my car, I could feel this magical buzz in the air (and no it wasn’t just the pumping of music thru PAs and amps lol). I passed by people of all ages, sizes, and colors on my way to various performances and tables throughout the day. And I noticed we all shared the same thing: an excitable joy and pep in our step.
Here we were, dripping a probably disturbing amount of sweat and we were all beaming and sharing in the happiness of the art together. It was a beautiful mosaic of the local community and those from afar coming together to simply have fun.
The music was incredible, the art was lovely, the people were kind, the beer was cold, the food was delicious, and the memories are priceless! I’m thrilled to attend PorchRokr 2026.
