With over 120+ credits, I officially graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Boston on May 28th 2026. Boston’s one and only public research university and the nation’s #1 university for student access to top-tier research🎓.

Earning my Bachelor’s degree was far from easy. Behind this accomplishment were sleepless nights, sickness, homelessness, grief, uncertainty, battles with my health, mental and anxiety, and moments where I truly felt like I did not belong, not just in school, but in this world.

But every obstacle I faced became part of my story, and every setback shaped me into the woman I am today. Through it all, I reminded myself that hard times are never forever and there is always light waiting at the end of the tunnel.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13.

Without God’s grace, guidance, and protection, none of this would have been possible. He carried me through every season of my life and continuously placed the right people beside me exactly when I needed them most.

To my family; especially my mother, my sister Rany, brother Kalton, and my cousin Francisca, thank you for being my foundation. Being the first in our family to go out of state for college was only possible because of the sacrifices, love, and support you poured into me long before I even realized my own potential. I carry each of you with me in everything I do.

To my friends who became family, thank you for loving me through every version of myself. Thank you for lifting me up on the days I was too weak to stand on my own. Thank you for giving me memories, laughter, comfort, and a place that truly felt like home. I will cherish you all forever.

And finally, to the City of Boston, thank you for embracing me. I was once a 15-year-old girl from Silver Spring, Maryland, who somehow fell in love with a city she had never even visited. Now, at 21 years old, after living here since I was 17, I finally understand why God placed Boston so deeply in my heart.

Smart enough to earn the degree, strong enough to survive the journey✨.

As I reflect on the past four years, I realize my passion for sports medicine has only continued to grow. What started as a love for watching games has evolved into a passion for helping athletes succeed both on and off the court. Being a woman in a male-dominated field has come with challenges, but each experience has pushed me closer to my goal of becoming a Head Athletic Trainer.

To @umassbostonbasketball,

Thank you for welcoming me into your family and allowing me to be a part of such a special program. This team has been more than just a part of my education, it has been a home. Thank you for the memories, friendships, lessons, and opportunities that have shaped me over the past four years.

Thank you to Coach Harris for trusting me with your team and allowing me to develop my skills throughout my undergraduate journey. I am grateful for every coach, mentor, and athletic trainer who invested their time, guidance, and support in me. Your faith in me has made a huge impact and continues to motivate me as I pursue my goals.

Four years down, and this is only the beginning!
