Every Chicagoan has one thing about them that immediately gives it away.

Maybe you still call it the Sears Tower.

Maybe “the lake is east” is a perfectly reasonable set of directions.

Maybe you can hear somebody say where they live and immediately start calculating which CTA line they take.

Maybe you’ve defended a hot dog topping with an intensity normally reserved for family members.

Mine is __________.

Fill in the blank, but you only get ONE answer.

Then read the comments and decide who’s actually from Chicago and who’s been here for three summers and got a 312 number.

The image invites Chicagoans to share the habit, phrase, opinion, neighborhood behavior, or local tradition that most reveals they’re from Chicago. taken in Chicago, Illinois by @showcasingchicago

You can’t say you’re truly a Chicagoan if you’ve never added a complimentary S to words that technically didn’t need them.

This is a tradition that’s been passed down from generations. The first Chicagoans that settled here established this rule and we simply abide by it.

Share this with your favorite Chicagoans to see which words they add a complimentary S to

And follow @showcasingchicago as we constantly uncover new absurdities about the city of Chicago.

Chicagoans will get a tornado warning, hear the sirens, see the radar turning red and still need to know exactly which intersection the tornado is approaching before deciding whether this concerns us.

Apparently “Cook County” is just not enough information.

Follow @showcasingchicago for live, up to the minute updates on the completely normal absurdity of Chicago and the Chicagoans keeping it operational.

You haven’t seen bad driving until you’ve visited Chicago.

But when you add rain to the equation you must then subtract Chicagoans ability to drive

#chicago #chicagoweather #chicagogram #chicagoandknow #chicagolocal Text-based Chicago humor meme reading, “Chicago drivers make questionable choices on dry pavement. Add rain, and every lane change suddenly looks like a prayer request.” The joke is about Chicago drivers making unpredictable lane changes during rainy weather taken in Chicago, Illinois by @showcasingchicago

Not that you need to watch the news anymore for your weather updates for when it rains here in Chicago

But if you were to watch which station would it be and who’s your favorite weather reporter?

#chicago #chicagoweather #chicagonews #chicagolocal #chicagolife White text meme from @showcasingchicago jokes that Chicagoans predicted rain through joint pain instead of checking the forecast. The post uses bold black lettering on a plain white background and pokes fun at Chicago weather and local rain predictions. taken in Chicago, Illinois by @showcasingchicago

An address is a starting point. The cross streets are the reference codes.

Send this to the person who asks for cross streets after you already sent the address.

And follow @showcasingchicago for a further explanation of the local habits of Chicagoans that seem absurd until we give you additional context

Just before halftime the Philadelphia Eagles scored their first td against the Chicago Bears using the qb sneak.

Not knowing that Ben Johnson snuck the same play in our game plan this week.

Send this to every Bears fan you know

And tell them to follow @showcasingchicago for more Chicago football coverage all season long 🐻⬇️
