The rules: 30 laps or 75 minutes to catch them all.
Max needed 35 minutes. And 14 laps.

On pole: F1 journalist, and fellow Limburg man, Jacky Martens. The leader group team strategy? Collaborate.
“If we’re gonna tussle, he’ll catch us within a minute.”

Race Director David Terrien on Max:

From Hero To Friend. Together, Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel won six consecutive Race of Champions Nations Cups for Germany, from 2007 to 2012.

In 2015, Seb followed in Michael’s footsteps by joining Ferrari. This Sunday, he drives Michael’s championship-winning F2002 at Monza, marking 30 years since Schumacher joined the Scuderia in 1996.

"Two teenagers, a bearded hipster, a record-holder, last year’s champion and a battle-tested Swiss Army knife walk into a bar…" -- Or, in this case, sprint across the Atlantic. That sums up #TheOceanRace Atlantic

Six IMOCA 60s. Around 3,000 nautical miles from New York to Lorient. Two boats barely out of the yard, one approaching its twentieth birthday, and plenty of shared history between the crews.

Francesca Clapcich takes on Boris Herrmann in his former boat, with his longtime teammate Will Harris alongside her. Sisters Elodie-Jane and Justine Mettraux race against each other. Paul Meilhat and Mariana Lobato reunite aboard United by the Ocean. Kojiro Shiraishi puts a radical new design to the test. Oliver Heer brings a proven boat and a new team. Conrad Colman takes on all five foilers without foils.

Who will win? At the pre-race skipper call, Herrmann’s answer was honest: “We really don’t know.”

Clapcich’s approach? “One gear. Full forward, full speed.”

#Flashback: Our POV from the water. While today’s offshore start to The Ocean Race Atlantic went smoothly, last year’s European edition opened with Holcim-PRB and Allagrande MAPEI colliding at speed off Kiel.

Lesson in resilience: Both repaired and rejoined a week later. MAPEI @allagrandemapei with skipper @ambrobeccaria went on to secure an Italian home win in Genoa; Holcim-PRB skippered by @rosalinkuiper finished third overall.

Beccaria has kept winning: the 2026 Vendée Arctique, his first solo IMOCA race aboard Allagrande MAPEI. Next big target: the 2028 #vendee Globe.
