“They’re all gonna laugh at you… “🩸
This was the first time Nick Knight and Gareth Pugh worked together and is the perfect amount of creepy for today.

This shoot originally appeared in i-D magazine, June/July 2006, No. 267, in the editorial Show Your Bones, with model Felicity Gilbert re-enacting Brian De Palma’s Carrie (1976).

Nick Knight and Amanda Harlech cast a spell for V Magazine in The Moon and the Cat’s Eyes. 🎃🕯️

A sorceress and a street walker meet under the harsh light of a single street lamp

With Molly Bair and Cierra Skye in the lead roles, the pair draw on research into witches, a subject that inspired Rei Kawakubo’s Comme des Garçons collection and the lighting and narrative of A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night. Armed with S/S 16 fashion from Comme des Garçons, Chanel, Vetements, Saint Laurent, Celine, Tom Ford and Alexander McQueen, and with hair by Sam McKnight and make-up by Isamaya Ffrench, the result is a series of tableaus exploring the theatre of fashion and the dynamic between two models.

It’s a real witchcraft of fashion. 🧙‍♀️✨

Pressed against glass, frozen in time. 🕸️
In 2004, Alexander McQueen returned to London for his “Black” show.
Black it was a rework of Voss with McQueens most iconic pieces all reimagined in Black for American Express Black card.
Nick Knight shot the models including Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell pressed against glass in a matter of minutes. The plan was to assemble the images later, but life got in the way, and they sat untouched for nearly a decade.
To celebrate Savage Beauty, American Express and SHOWstudio finally completed the circle in 2015.

SHOWstudio’s Lara Sugar Hughes just covered 080 Barcelona Fashion Week.

Her takeaways included a collective feeling of community and friendship being built over the course of the week. The shows took place within a ‘dry marina’ (where sailing boats get serviced and repaired), a space which was transformed and morphed for every show.

Hughes’ pictures detail a sensitivity felt by everyone. With her photographic background, and the geographical location of the shows, being next to the nautical workshops of Port Vell reminds us that fashion experiences are not just for fashion people.

Check out the 080 collections on SHOWstudio, and the coverage across our Instagram page.

Roberto Montes’ fashion label Bibencia expresses his life better than words alone.

@bibencia set Juliet free from Romeo this season. Her love for her self walks alone. The show opened with an acoustic guitar song, followed by trademark Bibencia corsetry on heavy brocaded fabric, adding to the rococo parlour aesthetic. Ribbons, damasks and faces adorned with gems unlocked Juliet’s proud new self-love, presented to inspire us all.

Witches gather in sacred woodlands FOR A MEETING WITH the devil.
Nick Knight and Charlotte Stockdale summon Aquelarre for Garage Magazine. 🎃🕯️

Reflecting the pagan influences of the S/S 15 collections, Knight shot a series of desolate, scene-of-the-crime style photographs near Stockdale’s home in Basingstoke, then stitched them into choppy, unnerving short films with fictional satanist rituals playing with the believability of still versus film. Named after the place where witches held their meetings with the devil, the story comes to life through the Garage Mag app, turning the print pages into nightmarish folk horror vignettes.

As Knight puts it: “I wanted this series to create fear and discomfort rather than the usual objective of a fashion editorial, which is to make you say ‘Oh how beautiful.’”

Here are SHOWstudio’s highlights from day two of 080 Barcelona.

Have you ever seen Satoshi Kon’s animation Paprika (2006)? @404studio.es latest collection at 080 Barcelona Fashion was inspired by it. 404’s acidic knits are all hand crochet and embrace the element of play, encouraging us to approach everyday dressing with a childlike curiosity.

@antonioacuario_ ‘s collection started abruptly, with all the house lights turning on. It felt like the end of a glamorous party. Figures stepped out in fluid layers, gradually falling away to reveal the body underneath. Created using the deconstruction and reconstruction of existing garments, Acuario gives breathes new life into these garments.

@dominnico celebrates its 10th anniversary with collection ‘SUPERNOVA’. With Madonna as its central reference; From Hollywood and Die Another Day to the MTV Video Music Awards, they sent matching two piece satin sets, adorned with compact mirrors and chrome charms with patch pockets in bubblegum, baby blue and butter yellow satins peppered over thigh high boots down the runway.

Tune in for what tomorrow brings 📍 by @showstudio

The last day of @080bcnfashion donned some great collections.

Find our highlights here on SHOWstudio.

@cryptabarcelona dark, brooding collection used monochromatic clothing as an autobiography. Fabric was left torn, frayed and woven around the body like bandages.

Wigs at @patequilux asked ‘What would another version of yourself wear?’ Designer Patricia Fernández Iñesta answered using beadwork, gowns and oversized rings based on a manifesto of unlived lives.

@lamarnacho Hand-painted homages to Picasso’s Guernica featured in L’amar’s menswear, which honoured those who risked their lives protecting Spain’s art in the Civil War.

@davidcatalanbrand reinterprets maritime aesthetics and utilitarian details, translating them into a contemporary wardrobe defined by relaxed silhouettes and understated functionality.
