A GRAIN OF SAND.

I was inspired to this collection while going through Rabindranath tagore’s stories of “Chockher Bali”

In this collection my lens represent the society.

Chokher Bali is the story of “Binodini” a beautiful, convent educated woman who became a widow at younger age. She cannot easily endure society’s rejections. In 19th and 20th century a widowed woman was not permitted to re-marry in Bengali.

Binodini is presented in many characters in this story. A hopeless widow, an educated friend, a temptress, and a woman with full of regrets. Tagore gives readers an imaginary explanation into her desires and longings, the feeling that many widows at the time had silently undergone.

I see Binodini as a woman with shades of grey and with a powerful soul. Her education is what helps her survive in a world full of rejections. Binodini cannot come to terms with her life as a widow, as she is still young and has wants and desires.

Tagore presents many corruptions in 19th century as in child marriages and women’s rights in this story.

Someone’s inappropriate behaviour without my consent is not my responsibility. I won’t fear the threat, and I won’t shame myself or my gender for this society’s lack of knowledge on where to attach a persons worth of being.
.
Let me share you a story,

I went for a jog on the other day. I noticed a man doing an inappropriate sexual act while looking at me.
Back in those day I used to complain and feel upset, usually make my day miserable by thinking about it. Try to suppress my desire to do whatever I want to do to avoid situations like these. But this time I realised that I’m an adult. Till when am I going to keep suppressing my desire to live because of the things that I don’t have control over. as much as he has the right to do whatever he wants to do, we are sharing the same space and I do deserve to live my life as I wish. So this time instead of moving away, I looked at him and walked towards him with a genuine curiosity ( sex is part of human life, there is nothing to be shamed of for having desires, but just make sure you have consent and give mutual respect to your counterpart) on why does he do what he does? Unfortunately He simply fled.

That made me realise that, all these time the society has thought me to be a victim. And I can choose not to be one.
If anyone and everyone deserves to live, I’m deserving too, I won’t put my self in a cage for someone else inability to control themselves. My peace of mind, and sense of self is not attached to the person’s injudicious act.

It's not our fault nor do we have to bear the burden of how society treats women also we do have a choice .
The choice to stand tall.

WHISPERS: CAN YOU SEE IT!

It began with a research paper and it didn’t leave us.

28% of people in the UK are living in cold, damp homes that are making them sick. And yet, nothing shifts.

So we built a “pipeline.”
Fragile. Temporary. Breaking as it stands.

At the end, empty workwear.
A system that doesn’t hold everyone.

This isn’t an answer.
It’s a question.

I thought I was over hoppers… until this one changed everything.

Not a sweet tooth. Not even craving it.
But one milk hopper at @palmyrahrestaurant and I’ve been back THREE times since.
It was soft, creamy, crispy, comforting… familiar in the best way.
