The SHSU College of Criminal Justice has joined Diplomacy Lab, a public-private partnership with the U.S. Department of State that connects academic expertise with real-world foreign policy challenges.

For its inaugural project, graduate students in Laura Iesue’s perspectives in criminology course partnered with the Diplomatic Security Service in Brazil to examine the relationship between primary schooling and gang activity.

Through the project, students strengthened their research, communication and teamwork skills while exploring how criminology connects to international policy, diplomacy and national security.

The initiative also creates opportunities for faculty across #SHSU to contribute their expertise to interdisciplinary projects addressing global challenges.
