Halmashauri ya Mji Handeni kupitia Programu ya Shule Bora @shulebora_programme imeendesha mafunzo kwa walimu wa Lugha ya Kiingereza kutoka shule za msingi, kwa lengo la kuwajengea uwezo katika kutekeleza kwa ufanisi Mtaala Ulioboreshwa wa Mwaka 2023.

Mafunzo hayo yamelenga kuwawezesha walimu kutumia mbinu shirikishi za ufundishaji na ujifunzaji zinazomuwezesha mwanafunzi kutumia Lugha ya Kiingereza katika mawasiliano ya kila siku. Msisitizo ukiwekwa katika kumwezesha mwanafunzi kutumia lugha kwa mawasiliano, badala ya kuzingatia zaidi kanuni za sarufi pekee.

Aidha, walimu wamejengewa uwezo wa kutumia Teknolojia ya Habari na Mawasiliano (TEHAMA) katika ufundishaji na ujifunzaji wa Lugha ya Kiingereza, ili kurahisisha uwasilishaji wa maudhui na kuongeza ushiriki wa wanafunzi katika mchakato wa kujifunza.

Mafunzo hayo pia yamelenga kuwawezesha walimu kuandaa na kutumia zana mbalimbali za kufundishia na kujifunzia zinazozingatia mahitaji ya wanafunzi wote, pamoja na kutumia mazingira yao kama sehemu ya kujifunzia.

Kupitia mafunzo hayo, Halmashauri ya Mji Handeni inaendelea kuimarisha uwezo wa walimu na kuboresha mazingira ya ufundishaji na ujifunzaji, ili kuhakikisha wanafunzi wanapata elimu yenye ubora, ushirikishwaji na ujuzi unaowawezesha kutumia Lugha ya Kiingereza kwa ufanisi katika mawasiliano.

Two weeks on from hashtag#UtafitiElimu2026, and we are still reflecting on the powerful conversations around evidence, innovation, and strengthening Tanzania’s education systems.

Shule Bora, represented by Deputy Team Leader Mr. Benjamin Oganga, shared lessons from climate-resilient school pilots in Bahi and Mkuranga, alongside Dr. Agness Kapinga and Tanya Zebroff from @ukintanzania

Beyond infrastructure, the conversation focused on what matters most: using evidence from pilots to strengthen education systems at scale, linking climate resilience, policy, and learning environments.

A strong takeaway? Systems change happens when evidence, partnerships, and government leadership come together. This was well reflected in the MoEST’s progress on the National Education Research Agenda (NERA), signalling strong commitment to coordinated, evidence-based decision-making across the sector.

As conversations continue, our focus remains clear: strengthening systems through evidence, partnerships, and innovation to deliver better learning outcomes for all.

🏆 Celebrating excellence in teaching! These outstanding educators are among the 35 winners of the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) @taasisiyaelimu National Teaching Skills Competition for Pre-Primary, Primary, and Secondary School Teachers, selected from a highly competitive pool of over 3,000 applicants nationwide.

Through their creativity, commitment, and learner-centred approaches, strengthened by the UK-funded Shule Bora Programme, they are transforming classroom practice and improving teaching practices for other teachers across Tanzania.

This Day of the African Child, we are reminded that every child deserves access to clean water and good hygiene, the foundation for learning, health, and dignity. 💧🌍

That is why the UK-funded #ShuleBora programme is taking action by integrating climate-smart solutions in schools. These include rainwater harvesting systems that provide reliable access to clean water and improved eating sheds that offer safe, hygienic spaces where children can enjoy nutritious meals.

To date, we have supported the construction of 22 eating sheds equipped with handwashing facilities and rainwater harvesting systems, as well as 81 climate-resilient classrooms featuring rainwater harvesting systems. These investments are helping to strengthen climate-resilient school infrastructure and support the integration of these models into government policies and guidelines.

Because when children have access to clean water and safe learning environments, they thrive, learn better, and build brighter futures.

Together, let’s continue working to ensure that no child is left behind. ✨

Communities of Learning bring teachers and school leaders together to share experiences, solve challenges, and improve classroom delivery and children learning outcomes.

Through the UK-funded Shule Bora, 273 communities of Learning have been strengthened and reimagined. Ikafika muda wa kuwawezesha wanafunzi kutumia machine ya silabi niliyoibuni kwa lengo la kurahisisha ujifunzaji wa konsonanti muambatano na irabu katika kupata silabi.
