It might have been quiet over here on Instagram, but it certainly hasn’t been quiet in the sewing department!

Lots of makes have been happening behind the seams :)

My favourite is certainly this sunshine-filled patchwork quilted jacket, with the BF Patterns Bestie Bag coming in at a close second!

More details and pics to follow, eventually. For now, I’m just enjoying wearing these out and about 💛

The #Jaqcueline pants by @vikisews.

I knew I wanted to make an 80s style power suit, and this pattern was perfect for it! I was inspired by seeing my mom in her power suits and had to create one for myself.

It was a challenging pattern. First time I had worked with suiting fabrics. I took no shortcuts this time, making sure to baste and press where needed. The fly front was very intimidating but the instructional video from VikiSews was so clear, I managed to get it right on the first try!

So proud of these pants and looking forward to wearing them!

The top is also a make, and a personal favourite of mine! The pattern is by Aura Patterns and very similar to the Bathurst Top by Stitchwitch Patterns. by @shulks_k

My most important project to date - completed, delivered, and loved!

This project had many firsts for me😱. My first kid’s fitted item, my first time sewing with tulle, my first time drafting an entire garment from just measurements, my first time playing around with toiles!

This dress challenged me in so many ways. Sewing for myself, I’ve always been able to accept that my project may be different than I expected, and sewing for friends - well they’ve paid me and so there’s a tiny margin for error, but I’m not emotionally tied to the piece.

But when it came to sewing for my little niece, it felt like it was the project of a lifetime!🙆🏻‍♀️ I knew she would love it, simply because I made it for her, but I wanted it to be perfect! I wanted her to look at it and love it!

I spent ages going over measurements, planning, researching, consulting my highly skilled mum (read: calling her to panic), and even Ash played a wonderful role as my sounding board - his main priority was “But can Shans play in it?”. My wonderful Ari was always happy to help discard all the scraps😂

The day of the party came, and in typical Shani fashion, she saw a pic of the finished dress on my iPad 😂 so there was no surprise… My sweet sister asked little Shans to at least act a little surprised so I would get the reaction she knew I had been waiting for, but Shani had no time for games! She just wanted to put it on!

Safe to say, she loves her dress, was so happy to wear it, and didn’t want to take it off!

The little sweetheart wore an apron so as not to mess it at lunch - if that’s not love and appreciation for a dress, then I don’t know what is!

First little masterpiece done and dusted! I know the countless hours spent on this dress is something only I can value, but this bright smile is so worth it!

I’ve got a really bad habit of staring a project while I’m in the middle of another!

This time I took it to the next level 🙈

I saw the wildest (😉) fleece fabric at @lowry_fabrics and I had to have it! And then I loved it so much, I had to share it with my family.

So I put my very special niece’s dress on hold to make these hooded blankets for the whole family!

I managed to get hold of a free patterns from doitbetteryourself. It was a really simple sew, the challenge came in the cutting. The pattern pieces are huge, and cut on the fold. That definitely took the most time. It’s come together really nicely and I’m super proud of these!

All that’s left now is to make one for myself, and potentially a double one so I can stick my cold toes on Ash, while snuggling on the couch.
