TRUE STORY: these messages were sent to my brother David (@shulmands131) on Grindr from a guy who was only 600 feet away from him at the time (in New Orleans, where he lives). Thank you to @queersagainstantisemitism for sharing them today with permission from my brother. Please, please, please, my friends: PLEASE wake up to the reality of violent antisemitism in the LGBTQ community. The dangers faced by gay Jews like my brother and by all Jews is REAL and virulent and is basically completely accepted in all corners of polite society now. At least, that’s the impression you all give us when you see things like this and say nothing, because it most likely didn’t come from someone on the political right. Antisemitism exists in leftist groups just as much as it does among the right, and when you only condemn it when it’s politically expedient for you, you are complicit in it. And you continue to place my brother, and me and our entire family and everyone like us at risk of real f*ing violence, like what happened in Boulder (practically my backyard), DC, Pennsylvania, Manchester, and on and on. Especially those of us who actually spend time in Jewish communal spaces or are visibly Jewish. PS - Grindr was invented by an Israeli Jew. 💙🤍😆💪✡️ #antisemitism #antizionismisantisemitism #proudjew #queerjews #amyisraelchai #endantisemitism #stopantisemitism #adl by @shulmands131
